Summary
Clary was sitting on the edge of the roof’s railing, her feet swinging and dangling into the air. She looked out towards the skyline with a crease in her brow. Alec took a couple of steps towards her, trying to step louder with his feet so he didn’t startle her. He came up right next to her before she said anything.
“Hi Alec,” she said, the hands in her lap suddenly very interesting. “I activated my equilibrium rune. Don’t worry.”
“I wasn’t worried. You know your runes better than a lot of us,” Alec replied, taking out his stele and running it over his own equilibrium rune behind his right shoulder.

“God, Iris,” he gasps, pulling away from her mouth to kiss across her jaw and underneath her ear.
“Not God,” she gasps now that her mouth isn’t preoccupied, “just me.”
“Goddess, then,” he mumbles, correcting himself."

He inhaled Iris’ scent, listened to the hissing and crackling of the fire. Watched as the flames danced and flickered, like a fiery ballet. Felt the thud of her heartbeat in tandem with his.
He didn’t want to let her go.
