“Oh, don't be like that,” Cleo says, making their disappointed face. Apo’s really growing to loathe that expression. “You would've gone mad if you kept starving yourself and you know it. Pearl’s done you a favor; are you going to thank her?”

She leaned in, draping her arms over Pyro’s shoulders, and let out a nervous giggle. Her lips stopped right against his throat. Pyro giggled too, he couldn’t help it. He felt oddly lightheaded, and she hadn’t even started yet.
“Go on, don’t be scared,” Owen encouraged her. “You have feeding instincts, both of you do. They’ll help in situations like these.”

“Well, yes,” Pyro said, quicker on the uptake this time. “We're vampires. That's how it works.”
“That doesn't make it okay, though. You know that, right?”
“I don't get what you mean.”
“You don't just get to attack someone, and change them into something else, and expect them to be okay with it,” Apo said. “I may have agreed to the change, but I didn't have much of a choice. And you didn't have any choice, they just did this to you. Doesn't that bother you? Doesn't that make you want to do something about it?”
