Agatha’s mouth falls open.
“Like, really terrible. Your tears weren’t even and your sobs sounded awful. I didn't know if you were acting or having a stroke. It was honestly painful to watch.”
This little shit.
“I’ve always wondered how you won that Emmy.. Was it a pity prize?” She blinks at Agatha with feigned innocence as if she did not just verbally eviscerated the older woman before her.
“Anyway,” She continues breezily without missing a beat, “I’m Rae.”
Agatha snaps and grabs the opportunity by clearing her throat, desperate to redeem herself. “Right. Rae.” She lets the name roll on her tongue. “Is it short for.. 'Rae-who-should-really-watch-her-mouth-around-adults,' that Rae?”
“No.” Rae smirks. “It’s short for.. 'Rae-the-daughter-you-gave-up-for-adoption-sixteen years-ago,' that Rae.”
OR
Agatha’s world turns upside down when a young girl named Rae claims to be the daughter she abandoned—all unbeknownst to Rio, Rae’s adoptive mother.

Rio yipped in surprise, and Agatha’s thumb instantly smoothed over the little crescents she had made. Thankfully, Rio could tell her skin had not broken. Agatha continued, in a softer voice, “And I am here to teach you.”

Despite the fact that she looks no more than 5’4”, her legs look impossibly long. The expanse of smooth, milky skin stretches down to her feet, adored in high heeled wedges completely inappropriate for the venue. Her brunette hair is tied up in a ponytail, but still reaches halfway down her back in messy waves. She’s wearing a deep purple crochet top, cropped to above her belly button. As she heads for the cooler without a word, Rio can see the criss-crossed ties forming three perfect bows across her bare back.
