Summary
Sometimes you just need to let off some steam about your idiot brother, and sometimes you vent to the wrong person who seems to enjoy coming up with elaborate plans for solving problems. Jiang Cheng firmly shut down Nie Huaisang's ridiculous idea for him to sex up Lan Xichen and use that as a way to goad Wei Wuxian into doing the same with his own Twin Jade. So how did he end up in Lan Xichen's quarters at a discussion conference?

Summary
“Lovely weather for a funeral.”
“Atmospheric,” Lan Zhan agreed. Expecting, as had happened so often in his life, for the handsome stranger to stiffen at the sound of his voice, for that smile to turn false and brittle as they made their excuses.
“You have a lovely voice,” they said instead, as if they weren’t calling eroded gravel beautiful when their voice was the finest jade.
It was far from a typical compliment, but Lan Zhan was so starved for praise his heart clenched in his chest.
On the day of his father's funeral, Lan Zhan receives a box of letters from his long-missing mother. His quest to find her leads him to a spooky, kooky, and loving family who just might want him to stay forever. (And of course, to the man of his dreams).

Summary
“Did he really move?” Lan Xichen remembers himself asking, as though in a dream.
“I … think I saw it,” Nie Huaisang had answered after hesitating, eyes everywhere but on Lan Xichen. The Headshaker back in full force, the feckless and easily underestimated Nie sect leader.
“I see,” he had replied, for what else could he say to the revelation that his best friend’s little brother hated him, too?

Summary
“This is what you heard?”
Qin Su has never seen Lan Xichen lose his composure before. The corners of his eyes are scarlet, and his face is whiter than the snowy collar of his gown; and if the two of them were not seated, Qin Su suspects that he would have collapsed on the spot.
She takes another sip of tea. “That is what he said.”
Lan Xichen looks at her in desperation. “But—”
“Do you think I would mistake the voice of my intended?” she asks quietly. “I heard him speaking with one of your former disciples—Su Minshan, I think. My child will be allowed only two or three years; though A-Yao said that he would reconsider if it learns to talk before its first birthday, as he did.”
At the other end of the table, Zewu-jun makes another sound of anguish.
(In which Lan Xichen hosts a hundred-day feast and a wedding, and Qin Su and Jin Rusong are spared by a timely stroke of luck.)
