"You are inebriated, Silent Witch-dono," Ryn said. That was bad, probably. Monica had a vague feeling that she was not supposed to drink alcohol, or else she would embarrass herself. But she hadn't done anything embarrassing, so was she really inebriated?
"The chances of you doing something embarrassing in front of Cyril Ashley-dono are very high," he continued. "Would you still prefer he be the one to take you to bed?"
Cyril sputtered.
Monica thought about this. She didn't want to do something embarrassing in front of Cyril. But if he was taking her to bed like Ryn said, then he could turn into a cat and cuddle with her, like Nero did. And then she could squish his paw pads.
"I want to sleep with Cyril-sama," Monica declared.
Cyril choked.

Monica manages a third breath, exhales slowly, and then collapses back against Cyril’s chest, pressing her face into his shoulder.
“There we are,” Cyril says. His hand crosses over her back again, the other coming up to comb through her hair. “Everything’s alright. It was just a nightmare.” Monica presses into the warmth of his hold—he’s alive, and they’re out of the dragon’s den, or he wouldn’t be warm—and takes deep breaths until the shrieking in her mind peters out and she can hear the rest of her thoughts again.
