It’s another boy, about Andy’s age, and Aaron realises that this must be the other brother that Vic keeps talking about. He wonders if Andy and this boy could be twins, except they look nothing alike. While Andy is short with dark, sharp features, this boy is taller, with blond hair and softer edges.
Looking at him, Aaron almost forgets how to breathe. He’s never seen someone quite so striking before, and it makes his tongue feel too big for his mouth.

Robert parks the car outside the Woolpack and takes a final look at himself in the rearview mirror. He looks good, if he’s allowed to say so himself; hair softly quiffed to frame his face, the grey button up complimenting the burgundy suit perfectly. Robert looks himself in the eyes and feels his jaw tighten slightly before it relaxes and a confident grin takes its place.
It’s just one day. He can handle his family for one day. For Victoria’s sake.

Summary
It’s over. It had taken a while, but it’s over. The police had found Mackenzie, and both he and Aaron are recovering in hospital. They’ve still got a long road left to go, but they’re alive, which is the most important thing. No one really knew where John had gone off to, but with the amount of police presence in the village and the surrounding areas in the days after the whole thing went down, everyone assumed he had done a runner and was probably somewhere on the continent by now.
Typical, Robert thinks. John had always been a slimy one, just slippery enough to not get caught, so it doesn’t really surprise him that his brother had avoided police capture. But he comforts himself with the fact that he would never have to lay eyes on John ever again, and is perfectly fine with forgetting he’d ever existed to begin with. He already had a complicated relationship with one brother, he didn’t need another one.
After the gorge debacle, Robert is ready to move on from everything related to his so-called brother and pull the tatters of his life back together. Unfortunately, things have never been that simple.

Summary
The fact that they haven’t had sex in a while must be getting to Aaron’s head, because while this view of Robert would undoubtedly turn him on at any time, he’s driven to near insanity by the desire that wells up inside him. He has to have Robert now, or he’s going to lose his mind.

Aaron makes a grand show of looking Robert up and down. “I could be open to some pleasure,” he murmurs, acting all coy like he hasn’t just short-circuited every wire in Robert’s brain.

It’s a testament to the gravity of the situation that Robert lets that blatant blasphemy go, though not without vowing to himself to remember to piss in Max’s coffee in the morning.
“And the worst part,” Robert starts, mouth dry as he realises he’s finally going to voice aloud the illicit secret he can barely admit to himself, “is that he’s my soulmate.”
