    Summary

Three deaths in as many months. True death is difficult to visit upon the fae; but someone is doing deadly work at the Sunlit Court.

As the Sunlit Prince, Goro is tasked with catching the killer. He neither needs nor wants help from anyone from the Moonlit Court; but help has come to him, in the form of one Akira Kurusu. It's Goro's responsibility to keep him close - he is an Unseelie, after all, and everyone who knows anything knows that the Unseelie are not to be trusted. To do so is perilously close to treason, and Goro is a dutiful son.

But Akira makes the even the treasonous sound reasonable, and duty may be a higher calling than Goro ever expected.

    Summary

“I bleed in excess, Ferdinand,” Hubert says—a murmur, vulnerable, momentary—in a different voice, with a different heart. When he turns back his head, he holds Ferdinand’s gaze like a hand holds a lance. “You simply do not see it.”

Ferdinand looks in wide-eyed shock at the man across from him, whose dark hair curtains one side of his face even now, rendering all expressions incomplete. He wishes, for a stark, clear moment, to reach across the distance between them and brush aside that hair, tenderly, a gesture lost to history, and find what it keeps from him.

A foal, a correspondence, and a realization, after the war.

    Summary

Kenma reluctantly spoons vanilla into his mouth, watching the sun set. And when everything is dusted in stripes of pale orange and purple and gold, he glances at Kuroo’s profile muddled in the shadows of the descending sun, and wonders whether he had somehow accidentally made friends with an impressive sort of boy. The ice-cream melted under his thumb feels maddeningly sticky, like he’ll never wash it away thoroughly enough and it would leave its mark wherever he touched before he could.

Kenma has never really thought of anyone as good-looking before, never really cared enough about these things to notice them. But Kuroo is objectively so, in this light, in this angle—maybe all the time.

(A Kuroo and Kenma life story, told in five acts).

    Summary

Even so, there is a compartment of his heart where he stashes away the memories he cannot bear to inspect for too long, for fear that his mind, as always, will calculate the very worst outcome. On one shelf: the gray hair he found at his temple a few days ago. In a deeper alcove: the startled look on his grandmother’s face when she had forgotten his name for a moment too long when he last visited her.

In a hidden room, maybe even a full annex shut away from the rest of his heart: Keiji’s entire sixteenth year, when a boy with incandescent eyes told him that they were the protagonists of the world, and Keiji had believed it.
