Maybe he wanted to prove a point. Prove Robby was not some kind of infallible paragon. Prove he deserved this, that he deserved to be whispered about.
Still, it wasn’t planned. Dennis couldn’t afford to be a jealous type- he knew, deep down, he couldn’t compete with them, the litany of girls and women that Robby politely declined on a daily basis, even the ones he eyed a touch too long. It was a strange dichotomy, in a way, believing himself undeserving of Robby, of all people, and considering himself the only one worthy of him.

"Ha-ha," Will replies dryly, rolling his eyes. "Thanks for trying to make me feel better. I guess... But it doesn't change the fact that I'm sixteen and haven't kissed anyone yet."
"Don't feel bad, seriously! Kissing is super overrated anyway," Mike waves his hand through the air.
"What?" Will laughs in disbelief.
"It's not bad. It's just... okay," Mike shrugs, rocking his hand. "People just make it out to be like some amazing world-stopping experience that you can't get enough of. When it's nothing like that."
Will huffs, smirking. "I wish I knew what it felt like so I could tell you if you're wrong."
"I could show you…"
"What?"
Mike clears his throat. "So you know what it's like," he speaks carefully, quietly, like any moment everything might fall apart. "Then you can tell me if I'm wrong or not."
Mike can't figure out why he still can't say I love you to El.
Will can't figure out why Mike's acting so strange.
