The wind up here was strong and the cold felt like it was biting his skin even through his ratty old hoodie he’s had since he was maybe ten. Tim had considered dressing a little nice for tonight but he didn’t think it would matter when things were said and done.
Tonight was his birthday.
Tonight was his thirteenth birthday.
It was the third in a row his parents forgot or just couldn’t be there, ‘something came up, we can do something when we get back’. It’s what they said every time and then forgets all over again when they did come back. They hardly stayed long enough to remember their promise, never stayed longer than to pack up to just leave again.

Robin was yelling at him.
Robin was here, not on the other side of his camera lens. No, he was sitting on top of Tim and yelling at him after saving him. Robin had snatched Tim out of the air and stopped him.

“I’m pissed because– oh, right.” Jason reached up and underneath the collar of the unzipped jacket, tugging off one of his primary scent blockers.
Tim, standing so close, was suddenly awash in the smell of Jason, rich and sweet and deep, mouthwatering in a way that made it almost impossible for Tim to resist reaching up and burying his face in the crook of his shoulder. Jason always smelled good, but God, it was like someone was caramelizing sugar, letting that incredible fragrance waft into the air, and–
Oh. Jason did smell better than normal, with extra sweet and musky notes, because–
“You dumped me straight into pre-heat,” Jason explained, “and then you left. I almost went into shock. Can I get a little concern for my health and well-being, here?”
“Holy shit,” Tim said, stunned. He had sort of thought that that didn't happen in real life. Well, he knew it was a possibility, but – no, he hadn't, because he'd always assumed it only applied to alpha and omega couples.
Tim had put Jason in heat.

Summary
Bruce used to observe Dia de Muertos at Jason's grave. When Jason came back, he stopped. For some reason, that bothered Tim, so he took the tradition upon himself. Then Jason showed up and asked what Tim thought he was doing.
Red Hood was staring, impossible to read. Jason was so expressive that sometimes body language was enough with him (“incandescent with rage” was usually pretty clear,) but the helmet did a great job of erasing nuance. Tim had no idea what he was thinking.
Lucky, then, that he reached up to unlatch the hood and slid it off, tucking it under his arm and revealing a mocking smirk. “Aw, did you bring me flowers, Replacement?” he asked. “How cute.”

Today, though, Tim is wearing a sinfully tight pair of shorts and a loose fitting muscle tank… and Jason’s equipment upgrades aren't nearly interesting enough to keep his eyes from wandering.
He tries, though. He really does.
But then… he looks up again and gets a good look just as Tim lifts his shirt to dab his brow. Jason’s attention is drawn to the muscles of his abdomen; the way they flex as he breathes, the trail of dark hair leading down to the v of his hips.
Jason’s throat goes desert dry.
And then a water bottle enters his field of vision. Jason goes cross-eyed for a moment, looking at it, before he follows the arm extending it to Steph, her hip propped against his workstation, sly grin on her face.
“Brought you some water,” she says, entirely too chipper for Jason’s liking. “You’re lookin’ pretty thirsty.”

“You know,” Stray purred out the words, flexing his hands the best he could with how his wrists were tightly restrained and pulled up above his head. “Most people who get me all strung up like this have at least bought me dinner first. If you had wanted to play with me, you only had to ask~”
“Uh-huh, I’m sure.” Mandrake muttered.
He observed the cat closely that he had caught up in his vines, the ones that had slithered up the nearby tree to dangle the cat up by his wrist and down his arms. While more vines climbed up from below the cat, tangling around his legs and up to his waist to properly restrain him, Mandrake wasn’t taking his chances; this wasn’t exactly their first encounter.
“Tell me what you’re doing here and maybe, just maybe, you can leave here with most of your limbs still attached.” Mandrake offered and was not surprised when Stray rolled his eyes.
“You know exactly why I’m here.” Stray said, not bitterly but not as playful as before. “Must we fight? Hm? Our mothers are close.” Stray gave Mandrake a sensual smile. “We could be close too~”

In the weeks to come, Tim found himself spending more and more time with Selina who never even asked if he wanted to go home. His parents had called, once, just to make sure the new help was doing her job but truthfully, Tim hadn’t even noticed that they had a new help.
Every second that he wasn’t with Selina or in school, he spent researching, making quiet inquiries and bribing officials. All from the comfort of his home. He knew that he was much to weak to actually fight the Joker but he had other options. Arkham was possibly the least secure secure-prison that ever existed and most of the people were trained to look the other way when it came to the people visiting or leaving.
Obtaining thallium wasn’t really a challenge either, he just bought some via Drake Industries, which produced some optical lenses in which it was needed anyway. No one bat an eye and he got the poison within two days.
