They shuffled into the living room, Hera kicking off her shoes, Zeus still carrying half the hospital’s worth of supplies. After a moment of wordless mutual agreement, they set the baby carrier down right in the middle of the coffee table.
Both stared at it.
Hera crossed her arms. “…We can’t just leave him on the table.”
“Why not? It’s flat.”
“It’s a table, Zeus.”
“Stable table.” he said, as if that somehow made it reasonable.
She pinched the bridge of her nose, suppressing a smile she didn’t have the energy to fight. “You can’t just park our baby on the coffee table.”
“Too late.” he said cheerfully, stepping back to admire the sight like a proud architect. “Behold: our son, safely upon our table.”
Ares cooed faintly, as if offering commentary.
