"Clark!" Bruce yelled as he rushed towards him, he pressed his two hands against the wound, desperately trying to stop the bleeding. This couldn't be happening, the love of his life couldn't die right here at his feet, he was lost without him, he needed him.
But then he felt Clark's heart stop beating, his pulse was barely there. In that moment, the thought of letting his loved one die destroyed him, he screamed, a gut wrenching skin that everybody heard, and that nobody ever heard before.

Superboy, in his short life, has experienced all kinds of fears-not being able to be who he was supposed to be, not being good enough, people hating him for existing, like he asked to be made, being too naive, medical phobias and people he loves almost dying on daily basic.
So yeah, he's very close friends with fearhe knows he's not the way he was made to be-the universe made that pretty fucking clear, but he's still a hero (no matter if that traitorous voice in the back of his head taunts him about that, the voice that sounds so much like her)
so why is he so afraid now?

Kon-el's entry into the Royal Family is an upset. He changes the hierarchy and whispers that he could assassination the Crown Prince Jon roam the castle halls.
Kon's also 13 and desperately trying to find his place in the viperous world of the royal court. He's hoping that training a taur, a wild and whipsmart colt from the Drake stables, will be just the thing to show everyone he's someone to be taken seriously.
But taurs are not easy creatures to handle. They are strong and smart and not willing to be led by the weak-willed. His father Kal-El might have the strongest bond in the kingdom with his taur, Bruce, but that's no guarantee Kon will too.

Bruce watched his son die a horrible death, unable to stop it. Learning the truth of what caused it, he couldn't stop, he could not abandon his son to an eternity of slavery or worse. But was there any way to free his soul even if he couldn't bring him back to life?
