[Rumi stepped out of the car, and cold air rushed through her hair; the temperature was colder than she had imagined. She zipped up her jacket and put her hands in her pockets.
The weather this time of year was brutal; it seemed like she was stepping on frozen nails every step she took. She could see her breath, and she’s somewhat certain that her hair is the only reason her ears didn’t fall off already.
From behind her, she could hear Zoey and Mira arguing about something, but she couldn’t tell you what it was; she was solely focused on the building in front of her, the entrance to the Olympic village.]
Rumi has finally made it to the winter Olympics; she is one step closer to living up to her mother's name, one step closer to making Celine proud. The gold medal has never felt closer, but what she thought would be smooth sailing compared to her past turns out to be 2 weeks filled with misunderstandings, love confessions, arguments, crushes, and cuddles. The Winter Olympics opened up old wounds and left her bleeding out.

Mira and Zoey knew what she was was, Mira and Zoey the demon hunters knew what she was and had their weapons drawn, and Rumi’s voice had just threatened the Hunmoon they were sworn to protect.
She should run- should act like the demon she was and run away from the demon hunters despite how desperately she wanted to be near them.
She should find Jinu. He was a demon too, a demon who hated what he was and understood Rumi, who had promised to make the Saja Boys lose tonight.
But Mira and Zoey were right there- Mira and Zoey.
How could she run away from the people she wanted nothing more than to spend her life close to.
She had been so close, so close to finally being able to fully lean into Zoey’s hugs, to taking off her long-sleeves during morning treadmill runs with Mira, to going to that damn bathhouse with them.
(She had been so close to being something good enough to let them see.)
She couldn't run from them. (Rumi was tired, so tired.)

Pero, Rumi era un poco egoísta, si iba a morir, quería estar cerca de quienes la amaron, quería poder verlos al partir, quería morir en sus manos.

"We have been roommates for awhile now.." Zoey started, her gaze pointed towards the floor as she faced her two roommates. Zoey was sweating, fidgeting with the draw string of her hoodie. How was she supposed to tell them..? It would ruin everything, but she couldn't bare the weight of her feelings on her chest anymore. "Mira.. Rumi.. you both mean the world to me.. and I don't want this to ruin our friendship but—"
"Let me guess" Mira cut her off, not missing a beat. "You have feelings for us both" Zoey's jaw nearly hit the floor as Mira spoke, and Rumi stood there, eyes widened in shock as she looked between the two. The room was still, the silence crowding them before Zoey cleared her throat, finally finding the words that had been hard to find. "Um.. Yeah.. but... How did you—?" Mira's laugh cut her off and Zoey froze. "Oh please, you act like these walls aren't paper thin, I heard you talking to Mystery about it"

But then one of the leading members falls in love with a demon, and bears a child. The member was executed, but the child was kept alive. Kept alive and tortured by one of the other leading members.

Rumi's not stupid. She knows what the warm, fuzzy feeling she gets in her chest every time Zoey smiles at her means. She knows why her heart skips a beat whenever Mira smirks at her after a dumb joke. She doesn’t even think the others have realized it, yet. How much they love each other. How much she loves them.
It’s so easy to love them, Rumi thinks desperately. It’s so easy to slip her hands into theirs when they go on a grocery run. So easy to rest her head on Mira’s when they’re watching a scary movie. So easy to give Zoey a headpat when she’s pouting.
