His father was usually away, his mother often sick from an unknown illness despite her being the most powerful demon in all of Hell, leaving little Colburn to be accompanied by all sorts of members of his strange family.
From his "relatives" who were more or less eldritch nightmares from a world that no longer exists, a lonely ghost who dwells among the dead at the unnamed graveyard, a foreign visitor who appears in his dreams and sometimes looks at Colburn as if he had slaughtered his entire bloodline, to a peculiar servant who never shows his face and goes by the name of "Cain".

Except that he had. And he would again, if need be. To protect his son. Keep him safe. And keep him away from himself, and the ever-growing pile labeled "Lucifer's issues" that was accumulating in the back of his mind. But there was no reason to tell Amiel that. If one of them had to have their memory of this moment soured by guilt, let it be Lucifer.

When she gets revealed out into the open, she is seen as a pawn to be played with by Hell, something powerful to be destroyed by Heaven, and possibly the Antichrist by Earth. Lucifer knows he can't protect her from herself. Because the thing is, your bound to be the villain if you have Hell in your blood.

As much as Adam loves extermination day, he almost loathes what comes next more: the annual post extermination assessment with Lucifer. Debriefing that smug prick year after year, even as he gets to rub the receipts in his face, lost it's luster a very long time ago.
But this year’s meeting is different. And all he can think about, is how the prince of lies must be scheming something- again. Because there is no way the First Fucking Man could possibly feel anything positive towards some bimbo nepobaby princess of hell.
Charlie, meanwhile, couldn't imagine finding a man like Adam attractive. He tells crass, revolting jokes, mocks her constantly, threatens her, treats her like shit, takes out his issues with her father on her, commits genocide against her people- and if all that wasn't enough, he's her mother's ex-husband.
...
But she can totally fix him.
Alternatively: Chadam fic where Charlie's meeting with Adam happens early and she tries convincing him genocide is an unhealthy coping mechanism. And he falls in love with her over it.
