Summary
Nia Coleman is an unmotivated graphic artist for a small greeting card company in New England. She goes to work, she works on her weird lesbian art that her boss will never make into a card, she goes home. Everyday is the same— which is just how she likes it.
Until one day, out of literally nowhere, some gorgeous, fancy woman with an attitude problem joins the team as her new direct supervisor. Then local assholes start dropping like flies. It turns out that the world is not what Nia thought it was. And her new boss might be a witch. Or it might be time to grow up.
Either way, things at the Samtiments Greeting Card Company will never be the same. And neither will Nia.

In 2000, Brigitte Fitzgerald stabbed her sister Ginger, before disappearing from Bailey Downs. In 2009, Anita “Needy” Lesnicki killed her friend(?) Jennifer Check, and took her vengeance on those who turned her into a monster.
In 2010, after Brigitte made a new life for herself, and Needy disappeared from the world, something from both their past lives call them back. Something they thought they buried. Jennifer knew she must look a state. She’d practically been killed, after all. That was bound to leave a few marks. Red tights had merged with slowly drying blood, itchy and flaking. The stuff on her torso wasn’t drying though, still heavy and sodden. Staring at Needy, a distant thought told her that she wanted to acknowledge it all, to make some snarky comment and fix the expression on her face. But her body refused her.
She saw the way Needy’s face twitched in fear at the sight of Jennifer, and smiled.

With surprising fluidity, Jennifer slipped a hand out of Needy’s grasp, reached up towards her neck — but instead of attacking, she slipped her fingers under the thin chain she wore around her neck, pulling the BFFs necklace that Needy still wore from under the collar of her shirt. She toyed with it a second, wrapping the chain around her finger, looking at the heart shaped charm like it was an item of great fascination, and not just some cheap mall jewelry that Needy had bought for the two of them when they were eleven.
Needy held her breath as Jennifer’s icy blue eyes turned up to hers.
“Has it ever occurred to you that maybe… I don't want to be saved?”
