Summary
A Maze Runner story based off of the classic myth of Odysseus and Penelope.
WICKED was shut down before the Maze Trials ever started, leaving hundreds of children fending for themselves. Sent to the scorch by the government, they have a set of goals including: remain undiscovered, create a fulfilling life, and learn to protect each other in every way they can. Leaving their sanctuary of an abandoned building is almost a death sentence, having to face not only the Cranks, but the brutal temperatures, while some non-Immunes still have to deal with the threat of the Flare. Using knowledge gained during their time at WICKED, all of the surviving children are able to live successfully on the outskirts of the Scorch, growing their own food and recycling their own water.
One day, after hearing of a group of Immunes endangered by a resurgence of WICKED’s presence, a small group of the children are sent to find them and bring them home to join the others. After a long while, the Immunes all arrive safely, except for one. What will become of their loved one as hope of them returning dwindles? Will the missing Immune ever come home? -
