“Death doesn’t frighten you any longer, boy?” Yaldabaoth mused in slight astonishment as the attack that was just an inch away from hitting Joker dissipated into nothing. The God of Control threw back his head in a thunderous laugh, “Interesting! Very interesting, indeed! I wonder what brought you to this point. Was it perhaps your teammates?”
Joker’s gaze darkened as he thought of their forms, lying as lifeless heaps on the floor as a result of trying to save him. A useless endeavour. His fists clenched in silent fury.
The metallic being’s unholy watch on him was unnerving but then the God bellowed, “Yes, yes that could work. Listen, Trickster!” Joker’s eyes snapped up towards the God at the name and Yaldabaoth smirked. “I’m willing to offer you a contract. My victory over this world is inevitable, however your actions here have made way for a new game. This is what is going to happen, mortal! You will be sent back to where it all first began with your memories of now intact! Do not disappoint me, Trickster! Will you destroy the reality of the present in place of a new one? Or will you end up falling to this rigged game once again!?”
And then he was falling.
