Summary
After months of surviving on planet Kepler 246b, the Decepticons, led by Megatron, face a new challenge. As they strive to adapt and find a new 'home' on this alien world that resembles Cybertron but falls short, a new threat looms on the horizon. The Autobots, having discovered their presence, are now pursuing the Decepticons across the planet. Optimus leads a force from Cybertron to Kepler 246b to capture Megatron and his followers. However, the greatest threat does not come from the Autobots, but from a mysterious race that has long ruled the planet—The Quintessons.
Caught between two powerful forces, Megatron and the Decepticons are faced with a dilemma: should they continue fighting for survival or forge a new path under the threat of a common enemy? Starscream has successfully overthrown Megatron, thanks to the latter being defeated by Optimus Prime in a very decisive victory. But even though Starscream simply wants to either kill Megatron or exile him, the other Decepticons have a better idea. They want him to suffer first. So they decide to replace the base’s septic system with Megatron! He's hooked up to the pipes, with a plug in his ass, and now it's time for him to get used to his new life as a living septic tank.

It was just. Too coincidental for Starscream not to be suspicious. Megatron announces his plans for an inter-faction tournament, an idea, he claims, came to him only after hearing the Construction's reports on the renovation of the Pits a few days prior. One that definitely had nothing to do with a certain argument he had with Starscream that happened the previous day.
Right. Sure.
But Starscream could overlook all of that - albeit with a healthy dose of skepticism and doubt - if it weren’t for the victor’s reward.
Or,
On a Decepticon-ruled Cybertron, Megatron decides to host faction-wide tournament with a rather heavy-stakes prize on the line. Starscream is not too keen on this idea for several reasons.

When he did get the chance to take to the skies it was often with a load of Energon or his colleagues. He longed for the early days of the war when he was the first to be sent into battle. He missed the rush of being shot at and the thrill of crushing his enemies beneath his heel. It was painful to realize his best days were behind him.
Since it was unbecoming of an officer of his rank to be ungrateful, Astrotrain kept his feelings to himself. He also didn’t want Skywarp to know how miserable he actually was. As he watched his beautiful friend soar across the blue skies, Astrotrain tried to live vicariously through him. It warmed Astrotrain’s spark to see Skywarp so happy.”
This is the backstory on how Astrotrain became the Decepticon’s greatest and most powerful Triple Changer. This story goes deeper into a character that has not been explored that much in the animated series. This follows the storyline from the 1984-87 series and also spans the movie.
