Summary
Marinette and Adrien are separated from their miraculouses and their kwamis. Paris can do without Ladybug and Chat Noir for an hour or two, right? Unfortunately, no. Cue an attack by an akumatized Parisian. Cluelessly thrown thrown together as civilians, Marinette and Adrien work with each other to save Paris as usual, only they don't know exactly how usual it is. Spending the day with Marinette makes Adrien notice things about her that he never realized before, and of course Marinette is thrilled to spend her day with Adrien, regardless of circumstance.

Early enough that it has since-jossed elements of the PV conception, this holds up amazingly well. It starts with an almost-plausible reason to set aside their Miraculouses followed by akumatization of the *one person* who could take maximum advantage of that.
The writer clearly had a lot of fun with this, and the readers do, too. Comments were turned off in or after April 2025. ☹️

In a world where the Ladybug heroine is a self-centred jerk and the Cat hero is just as bad, Marinette Dupain-Cheng is an ordinary girl fending off accusations from all sides. At school, Lila Rossi has her entire class (including some of her former friends) wound around her finger and ripping into Marinette at every opportunity. Outside school, Coccinella seems to have it out for her- Marinette’s been killed by more akumas than she can name, and it’s always because ‘she was too attention-seeking and ran right into a fight’.
Her only friend is Adrien Agreste, who doesn’t believe Lila or Coccinella, who helps her patch herself up when she’s hurt. And when he and his mother come to her with the opportunity to escape it all, she doesn’t refuse.
Or; Lila has the Ladybug Miraculous. Adrien is a good friend. And Marinette is, to be honest, scarily effective.

Marinette was grinding her teeth in aggravation now, raising her hand to knock again, when the door finally opened. Out of breath and clearly frazzled stood a man, about her age, his probably-blonde hair darkened with what looked like soot and his maybe-green eyes hidden behind smudged glasses. Add in the tomato splattered gray shirt and ripped jeans that weren’t faring much better, and Marinette was comfortable enough to label the boy a hot mess.
Her anger immediately drained away at the far-too-innocent look on his face, and when he opened his mouth and started to speak, she had to forgive him for interrupting her process. He was clearly having a far worse day than she.
