Summary
Marco Bodt has a problem. He has the biggest hero complex out there, and though it gains him friends he isn’t thought of kindly by the police: they don’t appreciate a scruffy wannabe bohemian trying to do their job. He helps people, and then he vanishes. But when he saves a rather hostile man from being mowed down by an over-enthusiastic bus driver on the streets of Trost, he doesn’t get the reaction he expects. He gets shouted at for helping, for saving, and realises that sometimes people don’t want to be saved, or worse still, don’t think they should be.
He also begins to find that no matter how hard he tries, he can't pull himself away from the one person who destroyed his universe... and then put it together again.
One thing's for certain: it's going to be a hard pill to swallow.

I'm constantly baffled that these aren't real published New York Times Bestsellers, the author deserves it for making me cry so many times. I probably reread it twice a year. Super dark but always my comfort fic. Best boys.

The OG. Reading back on it, the dialogue and exposition isn't exactly what I thought it was back then, but it was still a nice feel. I think if the authors rewrote it now it'd be one of the great ones. So many fun tropes! And artist!Jean was always a favorite of mine.
