四个年轻人像死尸一样地躺在长着金黄色草籽的秋季的树林里。地上散落着蓝绿色的莺尾花，全都被撕烂一样丢弃在烂泥地里。空气中有一种污秽的味道。烂掉的花瓣眨着眼睛，看着现场采样的每一个人。警官们别过了头，露出可怜和同情的表情。威尔·格莱厄姆的领带也被踩进了烂泥地里，只能隐约看到上面的暗绿色的格纹。那是他的眼睛的颜色，如果洗去污泥，会看将背后的绣线已经快要被磨到发白。现在它黯淡无光，这眼睛的主人也只能坐在车厢后面，披着毯子瑟瑟发抖。威尔·格莱厄姆还有几个月就十八岁了。但是他从树林里跑出来张皇的样子，让所有人都感到不忍。而树林里的四具死尸只是睁着他们透明的眼睛看着天空，呕吐物和口水流了一地，混在泥里。他们赤身裸体，下体瘫软，表情奇怪，像最后体会到的极乐让他们感到恶心。
