Ragatha saw the adorable budding friendship between Jax and Pomni as a blessing in disguise, rather than a catastrophe waiting to happen, and thus pushed instead of prodded. Burned bridges, nipped buds—blah-blah-blah—she sewed her mouth shut and allowed a once scared Bunny to crawl out and comfort a worrisome Jester. She helped, of course, and gradually, a burnt bridge got rebuilt.

What were the stages of grief again?
Denial, Jax remembers. He knows that one. It’s the first on the list, the one that clues people in that it’s developing grief in the first place. Not that he’s grieving. That was silly. And a straight up delusional take on his situation. He doesn’t grieve.
Cartoonish purple rabbits don’t grieve.
The dead can’t speak, the guilty don’t deserve to. Pomni has Thoughts™ and makes it Jax’s whole problem.

Jax could have gotten paired with anyone– Gangle, who he could use as a climbing rope. Ragatha, with her seamstress skills to add a little extra bulk to his winter clothing. Hell, even Kinger, who seemed to have something to say about the insects strewn about the Everest paths. But no, he was stuck with Pomni. The one person who couldn’t help him in the slightest.

Summary
Ever since the Red Button fiasco, none of the Circus Freaks participated in Caine's Adventures. So, to win over digital hearts, Caine allowed everyone to create their own Adventure. Jax used the opportunity to escape from the Ringmaster's reach, leaving Pomni to deal with an unhinged Ringmaster too modifier happy to see reason. As long as she remained awake, her mind was safe.

“I'm worried… about Jax..” Pomni wrung her hands, pinching the ends of her gloves.
“Jax? Did he..? Did he threaten you?” Ragatha felt her heart drop, despite her talk with kinger she still couldn't help but blame herself for leaving Pomni with Jax, her hand wrapped the wooden arm of her rocking chair.
“What.? No! No no.. I'm worried for him, I mean..” she shuffled on ragatha's bed, “ I've never met someone before they abstracted but…” she could only make herself make eye contact for a second at a time before looking back at her hands, or the bed or anything else.
