“No, I am sure it is him.” The first man insisted, the grip around Max’s shoulder tightening painfully as he was heaved forward and onto his knees. “I have seen him before.”
Max’s whole body slumped in, his eyes falling shut. They refused to open again, every breath a strain on his lungs.
There was a hand seizing him by the back of the hated steel collar around his neck, ripping on it so his head was tilted upwards, calloused fingers gripping his chin. The small pain the rough treatment caused was nothing compared to the one in the rest of his body, Max barely felt it.
“It is him. Max Emilian Verstappen.”

Frank: Boy, it sure is weird to run into my lawyer in this gay bar I'm only at for recon because that pain in the ass, Daredevil, ruined my last lead. Come to think of it, Daredevil and Murdock show up together a lot. I better lie about who I am and ask this blind guy out so I can find his connection to Daredevil.
Matt: Boy, it sure is weird to run into the Punisher in this gay bar I'm only at to investigate this new coke trade, and it's even weirder that he asked me out. I better say yes so I can figure out what he's planning.
There is no way this could possibly go wrong.

“Wow,” Matt said at a gap in the narrative. “I bet that makes you want to drag them out back and shoot them.”
In Matt’s head, a phantom Foggy wailed his name like a Greek chorus warning him of the risk like he was about to dash his ship against the rocks. Matt smiled serenely as the server brought their food and relished the slight catch in Frank’s breath, the only reaction he’d gotten out of him all night.
“Funny thing. I was overseas before this,” Frank said, verging on honesty. “Iraq and Afghanistan. Active duty. I’ll tell ya, I don’t think any of those poor bastards deserved it half so much as some of the fuckers that come in wearing suits.”
Laughing, Matt said, “We’ll have to keep you out of the courtroom.”
(The imagined Foggy’s wailing rose to a shriek.)
THE WAY I FUCKING SCREAMED TOO!!! MATT!!!!
Heat rushed across Frank’s skin, the pulse that had remained steady all through dinner and being held at knife-point ticking up. He kissed back as if on instinct, and, ok, Matt reflected as he stepped back. Maybe Frank did like men.

Follow on from 'Night at the Museum' and 'Get out clause'.
The system has no idea whether the residual Ammit cultists got any of the canopic jars as their instinct is to get out of dodge when they hear sirens (which worked so well...). Now the only way to work out if the world is in peril and fix it is to somehow contact the Avengers.

“Take that stupid vest off, and lift your shirt.” Matt knew the wounds from the misfired bullets had to be deep, though the ex-Marine would never admit to it. Not willingly, anyway.
“Shit, why don’t you take me out on a date first?” Frank grinned wolfishly in response.
Frank Castle, Matt Murdock and one bed. Two men, mirrors of each other, each the same, and both the opposite. A guaranteed recipe for disaster.
Or perhaps a one-way trip to something even worse: uncharted territory.

Matt was smiling, Frank realized. A big fat shit-eating smile on the goddamn lawyer. Two things that did not go well together. You didn’t want your lawyer to be grinning like the Cheshire Cat. The court wasn’t Comedy Central.
LMAO
“Is the entire day just going to be full of you complaining about where I live, Frank? Because I might as well pop an Advil now.”
Frank raised his hands in mock surrender. “My bad, counselor.”
Matt crossed his arms, head slightly tilted in expectation.
“But just saying, even Iraq’s trenches were more comfortable than th-”
A cushion was hurled at Frank’s face, and he ducked, grinning. He managed to keep his coffee mug steady, and held the pillow to his chest with the other forearm. Ignored the pain near his ribcage. He saw Matt bite back a smile, and took another generous sip from his mug.

"So? How did Maggie find out, anyway?" Foggy asks, and the smile drops from Matt's face.
"Well..."
Foggy sucks in a sharp breath. "Oh, fuck. Oh no. No, no, no. Don't tell me—oh, for fuck's sake!"
"No, Foggy, she didn't walk in on anything!" Matt's quick to assure him, and yeah, thank God for that, because that would've been even more awkward and terrible than it already is. "She found condom wrappers. And possibly, the used ones in the trashcan," Matt mutters the last part under his breath, not that it does him much good, because Foggy still hears.
"That's it. I'm done." Foggy sounds like he's about to throw his phone across the room and Matt can hear him shifting, likely about to get off the bed and start pacing the length of his apartment.
(Or, Maggie thinks Matt has a girlfriend. Who happens to be his... casual sex Frank Castle. Somehow, she becomes the last push they both needed.)

"Foggy closed his eyes, and, with more feeling this time, opened them again. Same result.
The world refused to appear. It was simply... blackness. Nothingness? Not even the dream knew where it was going, apparently. The dream, that he was definitely in, because whatever was happening, definitely wasn't."
Matt and Foggy wake up in the wrong beds -- and the wrong bodies -- after startlingly normal night out.

FUCKKKKK AUGHHH THIS WAS SO WELL WRITTEN AND IS SO ACCURATE TO THE CHARACTERS!!!!
She was giving him a softer, more sincere look now. The lying was harder when he could see her, for some reason. It was probably just the novelty, but some of the subtleties he'd usually miss were glaring at him, even if others were missing. The way her facial expression gently shifted as she couldn't bring herself to stay angry. The glance she'd made towards Foggy – to her, Matt – that gave away that she was worried about him. She was thinking something was horribly wrong with Matt, and now Foggy of all people was fumbling around a lie to cover it up. He swallowed, finally looking away to let himself speak.
“It's not--”
“Oh my God, I can't do this, please just tell her!”
He'd heard his own voice repeated back through bad audio recording hardware so often that suddenly hearing it crisp and clear was immediately disconcerting. He'd turned his head toward the noise, but forgot to actually look at where it was coming from. Thankfully, Karen couldn't have noticed the slip-up, because she'd already whipped her head around to stare at the man on the sofa, confused. He slowly brought his head over to finally face himself just in time, as Karen had started looking wildly between the two, sensing the conspiracy

LMAO IM FUCKING DEAD FOGGY
“Daredevil!” he gasps, hamming it up drastically. Matt bites furiously down on the urge to grin, folding his arms in front of his chest. He may or may not look constipated, so it’s a good thing all of the Wasp’s startled attention seems to be on Foggy, who comes to a stop bent over and gasping a few feet away. “Daredevil, oh my God!”
“It’s alright!” the Wasp soothes in what Matt suspects is her designated comforting-civilians voice. “We got him, everything is going to be fine.”
“That man tried to kill me!” Foggy gulps. He all but falls to his knees and grovels on the pavement; internally, Matt is tempted to give him a cheeky nudge with his foot, maybe a pat on the head, but that might just give the game away. “He’s been following me, I swear to God! I never thought I’d get away from him!”
“That’s – a serious accusation,” Matt manages, gruffly as he can manage to be when he’s dying inside. “The Wasp here was just about to take this man down to the precinct, if you’d like to follow her and make a statement.”
“No, no,” Foggy blusters, clearly getting into the role now. Matt’s a little impressed with the way he manages to blanch so audibly. “I – I couldn’t. I just – would you walk me home?” He hugs his briefcase to his chest for good measure, and Matt so desperately wants a description of his expression that he nearly forgets himself and asks. “I don’t know if there are more of them, and I don’t wanna find out!”
The Wasp has gotten out her communicator, but Matt can feel her eyes on him, watching. He gives a very slow, deliberate nod, as if Foggy were one of their clients. “Not a problem,” he says after a quick glance in the Wasp’s direction, for show. She puts up a thumb reluctantly. “Lead the way, Mister – uh.”
“Murdock,” Foggy says, purely to antagonize him. “Oh, thank you so much. You’re my hero.”
“I don’t like that word,” Daredevil says. They amble down the street together. Matt manages to restrain himself for two blocks before they turn a corner, out of sight; he leans into Foggy’s side and mutters, “That was obnoxious, but I owe you a drink.”
“You owe me so many drinks,” Foggy corrects cheerfully, and slings an arm around his shoulders. “Come on, let’s get you back in your big boy clothes and get trashed.”
Heartwarming solidarity, Matt thinks fondly. This is what he loves the most about Foggy.
Maybe he ought to stop teasing him about the improv classes

OHOHOHO LOOK AT THIS WRITING
The D.A. had said, No one crosses over the tape. The tape a line down the room, marking where it was safe and where was too close to his dangerous self. Red walked right over it with a surety that didn’t match up with a blind man in a strange room, and Nelson looked like he’d bitten down into his favorite food to find it rotten while the secretary looked like she’d hailed a taxi only to watch it transform into Pegasus and fly away. So, that told Frank who knew.

Summary
Fics & ficlets I’ve had running through my head and want to put out in the ether. Mostly Matt whump with a little silliness down the road (esp as I drift more into Avengers crossovers).
Mostly stand-alone, though others in the series can add context for character interactions as that builds. But think of it more as snapshots over time instead of a continuous narrative.
Current theory is that it's how I process my own sensitive senses and chronic pain. But I'm at the point I keep cycling these in my head, re-editing them, and it's becoming a problem for focus and sleep. I'm hoping that getting them out of my head will help me stop #@!&ing thinking about them finally.
I feel like I’ve read just about every DD fanfic on this site at this point, and I'm sometimes unsure if my ideas are actually original versus just an amalgamation of all I’ve read Frankensteined together. To that effect, if you notice something is super similar to something else you've read, then my brain probably looped it in to my own story, so please let me know in the comments so I can take a look to see if I remember it, then credit it under 'remix/inspired by' accordingly.
