He fought with colleagues and friends and watched so many of them die. So when Strange said he would send one of them back in time since the universe was dying anyway he didn't think it was going to be him. With him bleeding out so much and in too much pain to even comprehend what Strange was saying, then he blinked and it was over ten years earlier.

“I’m sorry you want to do what?” Buck asked.
They were sitting on the bed together already dressed in their sleeping clothes. Buck put his phone down and turned to Eddie who still hasn’t looked up from his book. “I pick your hookup.” He repeated like it was the most normal thing in the world.
Buck blinked. “You… pick my hookup.”
Eddie flipped a page like he hadn’t just said something absolutely bizarre. “Yeah.”
“Like—like a full-on… vetting process?” Buck asked, voice rising slightly, like the idea was slowly settling into his brain and immediately throwing red flags. They were immediately taken down by his brain– Eddie had a silver star after all.
“You date disasters,” Eddie replied, still not looking up. “So yeah. I pick. You don’t exactly have the best judgment when it comes to people who deserve access to your—” he paused, eyes flicking over the edge of the book, “emotional intimacy.”
Buck choked. “That is not what you were gonna say.”
Eddie gave him a look. “I’m trying to be respectful.”

Summary
Arthur's eyes widen minutely, and Merlin can see fists tighten by his side, but he doesn't move out of Merlin's grasp, doesn't show any other reaction. And Merlin has never touched Arthur like this, never so unkindly but he's reached a boiling point, the thought of carrying on with this thankless routine is agonising.
His voice is almost a whisper when he speaks next. He leans in closer, unable to look at Arthur anymore, instead he says his next words a breath away from his ear. "You could thank me on your knees and it wouldn't come anywhere close to adequate appreciation."

In which Merlin is overwhelmed and underappreciated. Stretched thin between keeping the kingdom safe, playing the role of Arthur’s servant as well as the role of Gaius’ apprentice, and dealing with his magic, he snaps and quits. Arthur, of course, begins to realise the emptiness of life without Merlin. What follows is a mix of frustration, hurt, pining, and, finally, a reunion. Featuring the ever tired and concerned knights of the round table (except Gwaine, he doesn’t really give a shit.)

Jonathan just wanted to find his brother and was looking wherever he could, and if 'wherever' meant Harrington's backyard, he would look at it.
It was just that Jonathan was expecting to find his brother. Not... King Steve and Eddie 'The Freak' Munson having a pretty enthusiastic make up session.
Or. Stranger things through out the seasons with established steddie, Steve being friends with everyone, Hopper and Wayne being surrogate fathers and death lurking at every corner of Steve's life.

“For the record, I totally didn’t send this,” Jason declares, resting his fists judgmentally on his hips and wrinkling the bridge of his nose as he takes in the envelope’s exterior details. “I wouldn’t embarrass myself by printing the address for Wayne Manor in Comic Sans. And I definitely wouldn’t use whatever fresh hell that return address is printed in.”
Taking the bagged envelope in hand again, Bruce moves to the Batcomputer and pulls up the folder of fonts on the system. He glances between the envelope and the sample screen for the font he’d already suspected would be a match.
But clocking the font name gives him a great deal of pause. “Jokerman,” he finally declares in a growl through clenched teeth.
Tim, as it turns out, may not be Jack Drake’s son, but Bruce Wayne’s already got kids he picked out personally. That’s okay though, because Tim’s got a plan for how to deal with this revelation—it’s not like he needs acknowledgement from a second father that doesn’t want him, anyway.
