No, the moment his life really went to shit was the day Gwen and Lance got together and broke the pact they had all made four years ago to date outside their group of friends. Because everyone knows that couples spawn other couples, and once all the couples have gotten together, the only thing they have left to do is set up the rest of their single friends. And when you've been secretly pining away after your best mate for the better part of a decade as Arthur has, you'd feel understandably nervous when everyone is suddenly fixated on finding the perfect match for Merlin.

Zuko mistakingly summons a spirit's help and gets turned into a dog! A S2 divergence leading up to the Crossroads of Destiny in which Katara confesses everything to a cute and cuddly dog that lands on her doorstep. Zuko wants more than anything to be himself again, but admittedly, he wasn't sure who he wanted to be anyway. For now, being a dog in Ba Sing Se is a lot simpler than being a banished prince serving tea. Especially when belly rubs are involved!

However, he soon changes his mind when he meets Katara, a friendly regular customer who treats him more than an employee. If the only way to get to know the lady is by taking more shifts, Zuko will find a way to make it work.

Not wanting to live with her ex, and unable to live with her best friend, Suki, Katara takes her brother Sokka's offer to move into his loft with his two roommates. Aang is perky and sweet, the owner of a st. Bernard and a cat, who's often confused about his direction in life. Zuko, on the other hand, is a closed off bartender, who takes some time opening up to others.
The four could not be more different, and yet? They work out perfectly. Even if Katara's feelings for Zuko get a bit more complicated as time goes on.

He begins his interrogation at once. Uncle has dozed off, thankfully. If he knew she was awake, he would slow things down by offering tea. Still, Zuko is not a total barbarian. He thrusts the lukewarm tea in the girl’s direction. She looks around wildly, no doubt disoriented by her surroundings and Zuko presses his advantage.
“Where is the Avatar?”
A canon-divergent tale: Katara must protect the newly-found Avatar from a Fire Nation Prince, although he is not quite who she expected. But Katara has plenty of secrets of her own...
