Not quite walking fast enough to leave Izuku behind, Auntie Mitsuki had yelled at Katsuki the last time and had threatened that she'd throw out all his All Might stuff if the other ever did that again but walking fast enough to push the green haired boy to walk faster than he was comfortable with. And then the next moment they were each held in tight grips and harsh words snarled in their ears to stay quiet and they might not get hurt. He could hear Katsuki yelling 'Let us fucking go! You Bastards!' and then a desperate sounding 'Deku!' right before everything went dark.

Betas were no longer a common sub-gender as they had been in the past. Growing up as a beta, Reki got used to being alone and having few real friends, at least until Langa showed up. Langa was his first friend in a long time and never asked about his sub-gender or seemed to care about anyone's sub-gender in general, though it was obvious what gender Reki was. Reki knew the other wasn’t a Beta from seeing the other's constant use of scent patches and how he took suppressants without fail, but other than that, Reki didn’t ask or pry. He was effectively in the dark on what his best friend's sub-gender was.
That’s probably where he messed up... or did right for once in his life; he’s still figuring that out.
