Henry laughs but shuts up anyway, closing his eyes and enjoying the familiar smell of Alex, the familiar feeling of his body against his, the familiar feeling of having him in his arms. It feels like a fucking bliss.

Summary
There is no coffee dripping this morning. There are no sheets cooling on Alex’s side of the bed or pillows held hostage on Henry’s while Alex dresses for work. There is no tie strangling his throat or fingers tangled in his hair or sleepy eyes and mouths telling him to just call in sick, just this once, for me? Instead, there’s Alex, wiggling and turning over as slowly as he can to keep the mattress from rocking, and there’s Henry, knees pulled in toward his stomach and the knuckles of one hand curled beneath his chin, cheek red where it had flattened against Alex’s shoulder.
Henry breathes in deep through his nose, fingers curling in tighter. He sighs, one eye peeking open and mouth in a frown.
“Good morning,” Alex whispers, and he can’t help the way his lips quirk in an amused grin when Henry glares back in response.

Going nonverbal is like walking barefoot on pins and needles when everyone else but me came prepared with steel-toed boots.
Alex clicks off his phone and tosses it on the bedside table. Maybe, he thinks, he should’ve got that autism assessment.

To be at a climate conference and have a storm descend upon the proceedings was perhaps poetic. To have the storm be intense enough to flood half the hotel and cut off transportation to the mainland was concerning.
