“Would it kill you to have some professionalism?” Hermann gripes, because he’s incapable of being anything but the biggest party pooper (despite the fact that once, writing letters with him was the very harmony that Newt lived his life by, before Berlin sent that song crashing like drums smashing into the ground).
Newt opens his mouth to respond, but Hermann cuts him off like the dick that he is.
“Fine,” Hermann sighs, “If you shan’t do the smart thing and take a break until the steroid cream can actually do its job, then I'll have to do the safe thing for you."
Hermann slides on a pair of gloves along with one of the never used lab coats, which is unfairly hot, who gave grumpy Hermann Gottlieb, he of the lesbian undercuts and WWII-era-tortured-scientist style, the right to be that hot in something so mundane.
(When Newt finds he's allergic to the new antidote for kaiju blue, he's resigned to his work slowing down.
But when Hermann helps with dissection, Newt's crush becomes impossible to ignore.)

Sometimes, Hitoshi pretended that Sensei was his dad. He'd never admit it in a thousand years, but sometimes when Aizawa patted his head or praised him for finally pulling off a move he'd been struggling with — he imagined that Todoroki was right.
Hitoshi always gave off that he was annoyed about Todoroki’s insistence that he was their teacher's secret love child, but in his head, he wished for it more than anything in the world. He wished that it was Aizawa and Yamada that he went home to every night instead of the Fukushimas. That he could call Eri his little sister instead of just someone he wished he could be.
(Or, stuck in an abusive foster home, Hitoshi is on the edge of his rope.)

Aizawa's previous words were reassuring in a way not very many things are but the look Aizawa and Yamada exchange now brings a spark of unease out in Hitoshi again because a look like that can never mean anything good.
"Can you just tell me, please?" Hitoshi asks because this might just kill him still, even though he trusts Aizawa and Yamada more than he could ever possibly put into words but what they are doing right now is worrying in a way he isn't used to from them.
"Your birth mother contacted CPS," Aizawa says without any flourish and for a moment Hitoshi simply sits with that.
What a bomb to drop on him, really.
