Summary
Viltrumites had believed in strength for so long that the few scientists among them were respected just for that. When one such scientific Viltrumite lands on Earth, Vigil is there for more than just its scientific studies, but the reason as to why events took such a turn. Why Nolan had departed so suddenly after a thousand years of service, the contradictions of Mark Grayson and why Earth was proving to be so anomalous to all other planets in the Viltrum Empire.
He was there to study it before Thragg undoubtedly ordered someone to burn it all away. Yet, in his observation of Mark Grayson, he was no longer sure it would be Thragg first.

Cecil feels his stomach clench in apprehension as he looks at the Mark through grainy security footage. Hands behind his head and expression perfectly calm surrounded by reanimen.
No yelling, no cocky smirk, no crazy eyes.
There's also none of the anxiety or anger or any of the complicated array of emotions that Cecil is used to seeing on those features. Just the sort of calm confidence that stems from the complete and utter certainty that he’s the strongest person in the room. Cecil is intimately familiar with that look, since he used to see it all the time.

Or: MasklessMark isn't evil and he wants to stay. Complicated, heart-wrenching, and sometimes funny things result from this choice.

Alt Mark's experience and everything he went through is genuinely so heartbreaking, like he needs an infinite amount of hugs 😭😭😭. William and Rick are so cute together and such good empathetic friends, I love it. Love the whole found family vibe going on too. Very angsty but also incredibly heartwarming.

So, when Mark got stuck in a freaky zombie dimension it was only natural to assume Angstrom would end up pulling him back sooner or later, right?

Really like the world building in this. Poor Mark he's in for such a rough time and Cecil has the biggest titanium balls ever, guy is genuinely stone cold. Lawd the way no one has a chance at all , like Mark is fully in stepford wife mode and William is in a psychological thriller (the Markussy is literally insane) 😭. Rick and Amber deserve to find a support group after the way they've been treated and poor Debbie just wants her son safe but is he truly? 😔 I also have genuine questions, for what Debbie and her relationship with Nolan actually looked like, with these insane abilities dynamics, and also how they interacted with a baby Mark. This shit is about to get even more fucked up too.
