Enterprise is safe to fly another day. All thanks to Captain James T. Kirk's sacrifice. He's made peace with his death, even though it breaks his heart one final time to see the hurt in Spock's eyes. Still, the last thing he gets to see is the face of one of his dearest friends... until his eyes snap back open. Not in a hospital. In a shuttle as it lands at the Academy.
“Once you exit the shuttle you are free to return to your dorms. Those of you who are new, you’ll follow me to registration and physicals,” a vaguely familiar-looking officer says, and Jim’s heart stops in his chest. Surprising, considering it shouldn’t be beating at all.

This is based on a prompt found in the AO3 Facebook.
Sherlock is an Omega whose Alpha has died severing their bond. Sherlock is depressed for an Omega who lost their mate is considered worthless in their society. If young and fertile, unbonded omegas are sent to breeding camps, forced to bear pups they will never raise; something his brother, Mycroft, will never let happen.
Or there is the option of becoming the Second Mate of an Alpha who is already bonded. The omega would be welcomed into the home, bear all the pups the Alpha wished and live comfortably and protected. There is no love and the second's mate place is very low compared to the spouse, but it was better than the alternative.
Still mourning his beloved Alpha, Sherlock refuses to be someone else's spouse, let alone a lowly Second Mate, but time is running out before he’s forced to go to the camps. Sherlock is forced to marry John Watson, a wealthy Alpha doctor, who is married to Mary, an infertile Beta. Both of whom hide dark secrets from each other.

This is in response to Kittygirl's Jim the Single Parent challenge:
This idea has been floating around in my brain for a while so I figured I'd issue a challenge to see what people came up with. This does have the potential to be rather long.
It goes like this:
While Spock is still with Uhura, he ends up having a drunken fling with Kirk, who is completely in love with him. Kirk somehow ends up pregnant with his child(it doesn't matter how you make this come about, either meddling aliens or an auxiliary uterus idea that keeps floating around or that Jim just can). When Spock is finally informed of the conception he decides that, since he and Uhura cannot have children together for whatever reason (completely your idea why), Jim's child be the perfect candidate instead and decides to take the child and whisk it away New Vulcan after it is born to raise it with Uhura. He believes Jim to illogical and reckless to raise a child. Enlisting McCoy's help, who thinks that its better for the child to be raised by Vulcan's, the trio keep a close eye on Jim in case he gets wind of the plan.

This is a personal request from a fan, Katrinna Le Fay (yes, I do requests; sometimes it takes awhile, though).
Jim and Spock meet as children. Jim's mother is absent; his caretakers are abusive. Sarek and Amanda rescue their son's friend and raise the boys together. They discover they are t'hy'la and are bonded. Spock goes to Earth to join Starfleet; Jim goes with him.
This will be sort-of Abrams, with a dash of AU mixed in. for example, I'm not killing off Amanda. Enjoy.
