Jaune Arc was a 13 year old boy when the Jarl of Winterhold, the Jarl's wife, and the only other noble of the hold died in a cave in. That left no heirs within the hold to take up the mantle of Jarl of Winterhold. So they broke open an ancient rule: the Jarl Regent. A family connected to the hold would temporarily take the charge of Jarlship, waiting until a new family established itself.
His father was already in competition for Jarl of Vale. His elder siblings abroad. That left him as the most eligible pick, hauled off and brought to the barely existent city of Winterhold.
Four years later... Jaune was still trying to figure out what the hell happened.

Summary
Apartment 33 was always the odd one out in the entire building.
People passing by could always tell something was going on in there, from electrical buzzing to what sounded like creatures in there on some occasions. Although it was rare, not to mention who lived in there, he was known to be reclusive yet eccentric, smart but rather quiet, he wasnt the type for conversation.
Sam was, to be brutally honest, a weirdo, no reason to sugarcoat it, he was an oddball to every degree. He was always wearing a white labcoat over his sweater, even if it was boiling hot or absolutely freezing he would wear it everywhere. He was always carrying ppe on his person, even if nothing was going on, but that wasnt even close to the most bizarre thing about him. He carried acid on him at all times, in a little vial, nobody knew why, he had two degrees, yet didn't do anything with them except maybe give medical advice or help kids with their homework, but even that was far and few between.
Sam is, an odd man. A scientist with little regard to the laws of biology.

With only that as his last hope to survive, Sam and his friends go to Mt Ebott but the exalted four find them, taking them one by one until it was only Sam and the childrens.

Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.
Ghost goes back in time, kills the Radiance, and sets everything right. They tell no one, and do it on their own. It is only after their family is happy, and the kingdom is safe, and the Abyss is soothed to sleep, that they realize just how lonely it is as the last remaining piece of a future never to be.

Two unhinged maniacs who were only holding it together because of the enforced house arrest and supervision. House arrest and supervision that no longer existed, in a timeline where they were the ones with advance knowledge.
