Summary
Steve Harrington is secretly a nerd. He's also, in Eddie's opinion, a massive dick. (Or: five times nobody but Eddie believes that Steve is a giant nerd, and one time he tells everyone else.)
“Oh, you’re kidding, I love that book,” says Steve Harrington.
Eddie wonders, for about half a second, if he’s somehow fallen into a different dimension. He stares down at the battered copy of 'The Silmarillion' just in case he’s accidentally been reading like… whatever jocks read, a basketball like — handbook, or whatever. He isn’t. It’s still 'The Silmarillion'. Eddie looks up at Steve Harrington, who is standing at the bottom of the stairs Eddie is sitting on, sunlight in his hair, sneakers shifting awkwardly on the tarmac of the school yard. “Uh-huh,” Eddie says, sort of dumbly.

Summary
In which Eddie is stuck in suburbia with a Steve who mows the garden shirtless and insists on wearing short shorts.
Steve has little red marks on the backs of his heels from old blisters, or something, and above that on the soft flesh of his hairy shin a little black mole. It’s frightening, to know these things about Steve, Eddie doesn’t know what to do with it. He feels like he should tell someone, the gossip rag down at Hawkins High (who are still inexplicably — or perhaps justifiably — interested in Steve Harrington). Steve’s curled up in a chair now, reading glasses on his nose and little frown on his face, reading their bills or taxes or something (Eddie and Robin have been banned by him from getting involved in all of that), heels and moles on display for the whole world to see.
People shouldn’t be allowed to see Steve like this. Someone needs to tell the press. It’s a national concern. His hair is being all… Eddie slams his mug down on the counter and scurries out, slamming the door after himself. Awful.

Summary
Eddie's not seen anyone in a month and a half, Steve decides it's time to change that.
A soft rumble approaches — engine, not a trailer park engine, something smoother and richer — and he looks up, tearing his mind from blue rolling clouds and ash in the air and the low roar of the earth shaking beneath him. It’s Steve Harrington’s BMW, incongruously beautiful in the rust and foulness of the trailer park, shining new like it was just bought. From the car stereo he catches the faintest sound of Club Tropicana by Wham! (fucking hell, Steve) and he shuts his eyes again like maybe if he can’t see Steve, Steve can’t see him.
The song stops, the engine purrs and dies. The car door opens. “Munson.”
He sighs, opens his eyes. Steve is standing, leaning over the top of the driver’s door. His expression is one which can’t be bargained with. “Harrington,” he says in reply, not moving.
“Have you got one of those… campaign whatever the fucks ready?”
It’s so out of left field, Eddie can only blink.

He had a fucking type, alright, and apparently it was nerds with big eyes, bigger hair, and extremely firm opinions on shit." Or, after they survive, Steve and Eddie hook up, and then keep hooking up.

Summary
Because once a week, he had the house entirely to himself from nine am to eight at night while he had his usual day off at the library and Robin was in class all day (and Eddie was on tour). He didn’t need the run of it, of course, because Robin would actually kill him if she found out he was engaging in sex acts in the kitchen — but it was nice to know he could be, like, loud and shift if he needed to.
(That, actually, might have been the only other thing Robin judged him for, but, in his defense, he grew up alone in a big ass house — he never really had to learn to be quiet.)
So he took advantage of it, and put on some pretty clothes and imagined some guy railing him in them.
In which Steve has a fantasy. Couple of 'em, in fact.

It's been a couple weeks since the Russian coverup and Steve can sleep roughly two hours before he's wide awake gasping for air and clutching at his bedsheets. But hey, at least the bruises are pretty much gone, the cuts leave fine white lines on his body and he has a newfound fear of drugs.
But he's doing okay.
He's fine in every sense of the word.

Summary
"It starts out simple. Eddie notices that Steve sometimes spaces out, but no one really pays him much attention. Usually, he’ll try to enter back into the conversation, and he’ll earn a few eye rolls when he has no idea what anyone’s talking about.
But what really haunts Eddie is the way Steve will sometimes be zoned out with his jaw and fists clenched, looking as if he’s reliving the worst of the upside down. He’ll gradually come out of it, and sometimes Robin will nudge him and quietly whisper if he’s okay, but he just shakes it off.
It’s like he has to appear fine in front of everyone, but Eddie gets it. He’s not sure what the group would do if Steve fell apart.
But a few times, he looks like he’s on the verge of it.
One time, he’s far away enough from everyone that Eddie is able to inconspicuously make his way to the former jock and nudge him. 'Penny for your thoughts?' Eddie asks."
Or, the way a dumb phrase and penny go a long way.

Except this time the bet ends up with him getting his nipple pierced and it seems like the guy who's about to run a needle through his skin is hotter than Steve expected and he's having trouble keeping it together.
But after a charged first encounter, Steve has no way to get in touch with Eddie and thinks he lost his chance until he runs into him in the most unexpected of places and finds out Eddie is a lot more than Steve initially thought.
