    Tommy forced his way into Grian’s life the same way Tommy did to everyone else. Literally and with a bony elbow in his side.

    “See, sir?” A child (and those were not allowed this close to the arena) weaseled his way in between Grian’s arm and his torso. “Told you I was with my dad.”

    Grian simply stared at the child, the Mod the kid was evidently running from looking between them dubiously.

    The kid elbowed him. Hard.

    “Had him young.” Grian wheezed as his kidney wept.

    Or.
    Grian feeds Tommy once and is stuck with him forever. Not that Grian minds.

    Aizawa watches him.

    “You’re not,” he says.

    Midoriya huffs a small breath. “Then why do I feel like—” His hands flex slightly against his knees. “Like I’m… less than I used to be?”

    Aizawa exhales through his nose. He leans forward, rests his arms on his thighs. “Because you’ve spent your whole life defining yourself by how much you can take,” he says. “And now, for the first time, you’re feeling it. And it’s heavy.”

    The witch, the one who he remembers, the one he visits in his sleep— is so very, very loved by him. Because even after all this time, even after he hardly remembers them, hardly remembers their face, the way his heart aches and hands sweat and the way he wants— longs to be with them— cannot hide how he once felt.

    This witch used to mean everything to him. He would’ve given up freedom for them.

    And now Tommy is going to find them.

    Tommy, old enough and magic-healed, starts to remember a time before the little shop, before the stealing and the big red dragon. In his dream, a familiar voice haunts him, keeping him pin-balling between reality and the past.

    And as his rotten luck would have it, it was Izuku’s turn next.

    The memory opened on his face, still scrawny and a bit afraid from his middle school days, and Kacchan’s nails dug into his hand so hard he thought he drew blood. The setting was different than he expected, though. Instead of the close walls of his classroom in Aldera, it was an airy, open rooftop. Past-Izuku was clutching a notebook to his chest and looking with wide and watery eyes at something behind them and, as a group, they turned to look and see the skeletal form of the former Number One Hero.

    “Didn’t you say you have something to ask me?”

    1A gets hit with a 'worst memory' quirk. Izuku fears it’s going to show them all a memory of Kacchan.

    It doesn’t.
