Now they’re living with the ghost of a 2007 pop-obsessed teenage girl named Ashlee who has a lot of opinions, a flair for dramatic timing, and zero respect for Kaoru’s personal space.

Kaoru hated people seeing him in any point of vulnerability.
That included tiredness. Falling asleep in class? Hell no. He could be as bored as he wanted, as distracted as he wished, but he’d stay awake all for the point of it.
So this became their new normal.
Kaoru felt safe with Kojiro. Kojiro let him sleep.

Kaoru is almost always sleepy by nature, so him and Kojiro’s normal is to allow him the rest without any worry. However, one day, Kojiro’s thoughts get ahead of himself as he begins telling his deepest thoughts to his sleeping best friend.

“It’s sweet,” is what Kojiro has to say about it, because he’s childish and full of sentimental bullshit. “Everyone’s worried about drifting apart after graduation, that’s all.”
“Cheap plastic beads on a string won’t stop anyone from leaving people behind,” Kaoru snaps.

“We’re going to start a rumour.” Kaoru said, and, just before Kojiro could ask what he meant, Kaoru let his hand slide over Kojiro’s shoulder and down his arm, and he decided he would follow Kaoru to the end of the world if he asked. And then, leaning in a little closer than was probably expected of friends, Kaoru said in such a low voice Kojiro almost didn’t hear him, “That we’re dating.”

He watched Nakamura roll her eyes, a huff of laughter escaping her lips. “Yeah, whatever,” she said, an unreadable expression on her face as she looked at him. “Just tell him to be a little quieter will you? We’re working on important business over here.”
Nagisa mumbled out a ‘sure’, glancing back at his redheaded friend, poking him in the side. That'd have to do, it’s not like he could just transport into Karma's dreams and tell him to shut up. Miraculously though, it seemed to work. Karma’s head shifted, the angle seemingly making him quieter.
