"Accidental novelist Daniel Molloy is ready to do just about anything to avoid writing a sequel to the hit pulp vampire romance he churned out while in the throes of his addiction. Lucky for him that the luxury apartment building he's just moved into is full of beautiful and strange characters to keep him busy. His neighbor, for example; the handsome Louis who feels uneasy about the old building's acoustics and often senses that he is being watched. Louis' ex, Lestat, with his prince-like charm and sweeping romantic gestures that almost make up for his careless missteps. Did we mention that he is French? And he isn't the only one. You'll meet Madeleine, Eglee, Santiago, and Claudia. And, of course, there is the building's beguiling manager, Armand. Lestat lets out a breath he didn’t know he was holding.
“But, I want you to try something for me.”
He looks up to see Nysa rifling through one of the drawers in her desk. She fumbles around for a bit before making a triumphant little sound and whipping out what looks like a pamphlet.
”It’s a support group for sexual assault survivors and I’d like you to attend at least one of their meetings.”

And Louis is so tired of navigating the bullshit of it all, so exhausted with lying and living in the shadows and being what he is not. His finger hooked beneath Armand's chin, he dips his head as he draws Armand's up, presses his fang-sharpened mouth to Armand's, as much a kiss as a bite. Too hard, too rough. He should be gentler. He is not.
'Use your mouth,' Louis says in Armand's mind, his hand moving from his companion's chin to grasp his hair, mussing the neat order of it. 'When you're done, I'm gonna take your picture.'

“I didn’t quite catch yours.” Louis felt, all at once, that she should go. But moreso, overwhelmingly, she felt that she must stay. Her painful shoes were too heavy to move. The woman held out her hand, her wrist elegant in its bend. Louis moved to clasp it.
“Lestat,” she whispered, before turning Louis’ hand over and pressing her lips to the knuckles like the burn of an iron stove. Louis' stomach turned nauseatingly, and she took back her hand.

Isn’t sure if he’d be able to stop himself from doing something stupid like attempting to kill a five hundred year old vampire with powers far beyond his understanding.
With powers strong enough that he could’ve tried to save Louis that god awful night had he actually wanted to.
With powers strong enough that he could have prevented the coven from killing Claudia and Madeleine had he wanted to.
But he didn’t.
Because this was all his doing.
His greatest show.
His greatest performance had been his so-called promise: “I will not harm you.”
