Summary
Peter Burke thought he was prepared for anything when he agreed to take Neal Caffrey on as his CI. Even the man turning out to be from Gotham wasn't a big problem; Peter was too, after all. However, the man's increasingly ridiculous explanations ending with "well, it's a Gotham thing" might... but, hey, at least Peter gets to use the same excuse now. If only Neal's excuses actually made sense— sure, Gothamites learn to fight young, but not long enough to take out a whole warehouse NEAL.

Neal huffs. "I'm telling the truth Peter. I don't know what else to tell you."
Peter snorts, and pulls up to June's house. "Maybe you should've chosen a handler who couldn't call you out on Gothamite bullshit."
Neal opens the door. "Maybe that's exactly why I chose you."

He may be fire: as fervid and dazzlingly ferocious as wildfire at zenith, subjugated to the furious tempest that rages within him, mercilessly as surf ravages scar, demanding immolation on a protean pyre—for whom does he burn tonight? Yet he’s also winter: winsome woe of reckoning, scourge to the sublime and dread of the decadent, although all he covets in these worlds are the halcyon days he’s due.
We are both creatures of contradictions. It’s why we understand one another. But it’s not lost on me that ice and fire cannot mingle without the frailer’s demise, that summer and winter never meet anywhere but the Ice. We tried for temperance.

Summary
Merlin's jobs are as follows: Assistant physician, Prince's Manservant, and Secret Protector of the Once and Future King.
A sudden influx of magical beasts from a nearby kingdom terrorising Camelot and flushing the Druids out of hiding forces him to take up another one: Emrys, King of the Druids. Of course, he's doing this anonymously, he's gonna need a disguise. No one can know it's Merlin kicking the shit out of stray Chimeras.
Meanwhile, Arthur is terribly frustrated. His father won't let him out even as magical beasts are rampaging around the kingdom, and people are dying. Well, what Uther doesn't know won't hurt him. But he's gonna need a disguise. No one can know it's Arthur beating the brains out of random water spirits.
And, sidenote: who's this Emrys guy?-----
Merlin answers threats to Camelot and the Druids as Emrys. Arthur does the same in defiance of his father as The Red Knight. They're medieval superheroes.- Language:
