A red gaze sweeps Lucifer from head to hoof and back again, followed by a well-sculpted eyebrow rising pointedly.
“Yes, yes,” Lucifer says from very much not the high ground. “Pot. Kettle. I’m aware. Why do you look like shit?”
Red places his free hand on his chest, fingers spread in gentlemanly offense. “I’m merely winded from all the effort I put into saving the Pentagram from your folly.”
Uh huh. No doubt Red’s a real hero. But first, a point of clarification. “My folly?”
“When you walked straight into the most obvious ambush of all time and were used as the unwitting power source for a doomsday device that nearly killed us all.” Black-tipped ears perk forward. “Ring any bells?”
Oh, fuck him. Also, no, not really. “Well, excuse me for underestimating what you sinners are capable of. None of you have ever managed to hurt me before in all the millennia you’ve tried. I’m not used to ambushes meaning anything.”
“Hence, folly.” Red tilts his head to the side at an inhuman angle, canned laughter swelling in the background. “You’re so good at it!”

“It is morning,” Alastor intoned, trying to sound bored and annoyed, but failing to keep the mirth from his sleep-addled voice. Or the desire. His body betraying him so early in the morning was not a good start to the day.
“And?” Lucifer replied, his breath ghosting over the bare skin of Alastor’s shoulder, “We’re both awake. And we’re both still very naked. And you look like sin, stretched out like this. Why shouldn’t I succumb to such temptation?”
“Your daughter is expecting us downstairs for breakfast. And then a staff meeting. Something or other to do after that ridiculous farce of an interview. Whatever will she think if we’re both late?”
“Daddy’s had a busy morning?” Lucifer shrugged, his hands moving upwards, carefully skirting around the scars on Alastor’s chest.
“Never,” Alastor groaned, turning an unimpressed look towards Lucifer, “And I mean never, refer to yourself as ‘daddy’ while you are naked in bed with me, again.”

“My heat is next month,” Alastor begins, starting to pluck at the stray hair of Keekee’s from the fluff of the sweater.
Lucifer nods slowly, hands squeezing where they’re wrapped around his upper arms. “I know,” he says easily, “I’ve got my old room just about set up again. Did you need something more for your nest? I can sleep in the same pajamas for a few nights for you… Maybe a few pairs in case the first one loses the scent too quickly.”
The tightness around Alastor’s eyes grows, and barely-there glow of green at the upper corners of his mouth begins to show.
“Um, or not!” Lucifer exclaims, throwing his hands up in front of him. "Shit, sorry, I just assumed—”
“I don’t want that,” the demon bites out, causing that sinking feeling in Lucifer’s stomach to make another appearance. He seems to realize how that sounds, since he hurriedly follows it up with, “I want you there with me.”
