Summary
Like most things, Izuku didn’t particularly want to start his career as a vigilante. In the same way he didn’t want to go to school every day to quirkist teachers, or how he didn’t want to be the victim of bullying and assault daily, oh, and he especially didn’t want his mom to run off and abandon him.
But, there are laws and there are legalities, and in this day and age in Japan, his quirk status leaves more wiggle room than should be allowed.
vigilantism had a similar situation. The laws stating something along the lines of: ‘a person, or persons, who is caught practicing unauthorized quirk usage for heroic acts, disregarding self-defense, will be prosecuted and may be fined up to-‘. Yeah, yeah, blah blah, the important part there is ‘quirk usage’, and fortunately (or unfortunately) that didn’t apply to Izuku.

Or, an author who’s tired of unrealistic fics where a teenage vigilante is trying to keep too many secrets, and decided to write one for themselves.

Hizashi pulled it over for a glance and the words that came out of his mouth were the first ones that crossed his mind.
"Holy shit."
Aphrodisiac quirks. Multiple aphrodisiac quirks. A cloning quirk. A shape shifting quirk. Extreme sensitivity quirk. Body alterations, sensory deprivation, loss of inhibitions, temporary animal transformation. Hizashi flipped to the back with eyes bugging out of his skull at the offer of more extreme entrées.
The glass was at his lips before he thought to lift it, smooth whiskey burning its way down and spreading out into a pleasant heat that only added to what was already there.
"Happy birthday, Hizashi."

He hands the cup to the teacher and, blaming it on sleep deprivation or his coffee addiction, he forgets about the first part and takes the cup with a grunt, letting the warmth seep into his palms as he gestures for the group to take their seats. They do so and he turns to look at his lesson for the day. A simple battle test, should be simple enough. The silence of the class is unsettling until he takes a sip of the drink, as black and bitter as possible, the kind of coffee that Hizashi says makes him even more dark and gloomy. The caffeine makes the first part of Midoriya's explaination really sink in.

His father had a powerful fire quirk, and while his mother didn't have a particularly strong quirk it could be used in a variety of ways. So why was he different? Why was he the exception? It didn't make sense. To his logical brain his quirk should have something to do with the manipulation or movement of fire, right? So why did he have.. nothing? It didn't make sense.
Until he was seventeen, that's when the missing quirk factor in his body clicked into place.
