“I’m going to die here, aren’t I?” He announced to the silence, adding a humorless laugh for good measure. “I suppose my brother was right to warn me…the gods do indeed withdraw their favor as swiftly as it is given.”
“Well,” replied a deep voice, dripping with dry amusement. “I don’t know about that, sweetheart. The way I see it, your luck just took a marked turn for the better.”
