Jing Yuan blinks, and the world around him tilts and morphs so quickly that he could almost mistake himself for having fainted if he wasn’t clearly still upright and standing. A look around the room they are currently in, and it only takes a moment for memory to kick in and recognise it as his master’s old estate.
Except… it doesn’t exist. Not anymore.
His beloved Dan Heng, who is still standing across from him, and who has always been considerably shorter than him, is now directly at his eye level. Judging by the horrified look he has on his face, he must have also come to the same conclusion.

“Yea—yes, she does,” Dan Heng says. “I told her I wanted to spend the summer with you, I guess she forgot to call ahead.”
“The summer?”
“Well, yeah, she’s in Penacony for the rest of the summer,” Dan Heng states, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world. Dan Feng tries not to trip over the fact that his mother has left two children, seemingly on their own, for the entire summer as she does fuck knows what in an entirely different country.
His mother never did grow out of her selfishness it seems.
When Dan Feng's estranged teenage brother ends up on his doorstep with two other kids in tow he knows something is wrong, quickly learning that Dan Heng is running from something he doesn't wish to share. With help from his husband Yingxing, Dan Feng finds himself stepping into his younger brother's life more than a decade late to be the brother that Dan Heng, Bailu, and their friend Ren need.

The cruelest thing about the Nameless was that they made it so easy to pretend that Sunday belonged. But everything is different now because now he's a wanted criminal with a hefty bounty for his head and yet he still regularly writes to his dear sister even though he will never get an answer from her since those letters remain hidden inside of his drawer.
