Summary
With no Big Bads on Hawkins‘ ass at the moment, the Upside Down is a lot more tame than usual. Things that were going bump in the night are being significantly less bumpy. Obviously, this means that Dustin wants to take the opportunity to go back there for some “research” in the name of “science”, meaning he wants to bring some shit back to poke at it.
Steve, being Steve, gets roped into chaperoning the little field trip. Grudgingly, because Dustin won’t leave him alone about his adult choices, but he still does it. It’ll be a quick visit, in and out, put some random garbage in a bucket and leave.
Turns out, science goes looking for YOU on this side of the gate.

The creature floated closer and all common sense that should have told him to step back was non-existent. Instead, Harry took a step closer.
It was obvious what the creature wanted. He only stared for a moment, no hesitance before his eyes slipped closed and he took.

Harry Potter is not safe at Number Four Privet Drive, but Lily Potter’s posthumous magic demands that he have a home, so in a crack of thunder four-year-old Harry flashes into existence next to Sirius Black, occupying Cell 12, North Tower, Azkaban.
Harry is anonymous there. No one knows who he was before he joined Padfoot in Cell 12, so he is given a new name and raised by Death Eaters, trained for Dark Magic and maybe a little crazier than he ought to be.
He knows only the stone walls and the cold until Minerva McGonagall stumbles into Dumbledore's office holding a first-year's letter addressed to the wizarding prison, and he is brought from its stone depths to attend Hogwarts.
He is not the Martyr Dumbledore wanted, and he is not the Savior the Wizarding World asked for.
This is not the Harry Potter you thought you knew. -

Harry Potter would be furious at being abandoned at his beastly relatives' house over the summer after the fiasco at the end of The TriWizard Tournament (and the whole year before it too, to be honest). He would be absolutely fuming over the fact that his friends completely ignored him, along with his godfather and Albus too-many-names Dumbledore, if he could feel much at all.
Instead, Harry's collection of traumas finally got to him and was not to be shaken off this time. In a desperate attempt at survival, his emotions shut themselves in a deep, dark place and left was a Plotting (with a capital P) mind and focus-driven goal. They will Pay (also with a capital P) in unusual ways - through laws and justice. A new concept in the magical world, Harry is certain.
But first... how does an emotionally distant (or even absent) 15-year old protect his cousin against two dementors descending on Little Whinging? With his wand locked inside a cupboard, no less.
The answer: he doesn't. Instead, he waves.

Harry Potter is tired.
Extremely tired, if he’s being honest with himself, not that anyone seems to care.
Nightmares have taken up permanent residence in his mind, playing Cedric’s death on an endless loop, paired with the horrifying realization that Voldemort is back. And no one has a properly functioning brain, it seems, because he’s been branded as a liar.
As if that wasn’t enough, this summer has to be spent with the Dursleys, who treat him like a house elf on probation. His days are spent scrubbing floors, washing windows, making elaborate meals he’s never allowed to eat, and worst of all: pruning Aunt Petunia’s flowers under the beating sun. And then there’s the newest, most infuriating development: he’s seeing into the bloody Dark Lord’s mind.
Alternatively: Lord Voldemort attempts to heinously fool Harry Potter into falling for him, then attempts to switch up at the last moment, but instead-

Everyone has some idea of what they think Harry Potter should be when he grows up. But Harry has known what he wants to do with his life since he was a child. His aunt is a so-called 'housewife,' who has pushed all her responsibilities onto Harry as soon as she could. While Harry hates being forced to take care of this family, he genuinely enjoys cooking and taking care of the house. His aunt is a disgrace to homemakers everywhere, and Harry would do a much better job. Which is why he aspires to be a househusband. He has the skills, and the fortune and status to offer, all that's left to do is find a husband.
A recently risen dark lord who is the alive version of his sentiment locket friend sounds like the perfect match. All that's left to do is convince him.
