Crocodile couldn’t think of the last time he’d seen one of them unbruised – probably as they’d first started dating him. He’d watch their bruises darken, welts left by his rings, move though red to purple to green, then as they faded to yellow he’d bruise them up again. Mihawk would have clean hits that seemed bright on his pale skin. Buggy was a cacophony of colour, keeping him from sitting down, forcing him to kneel before Crocodile.

It wasn’t that Buggy didn’t like drinking, or didn't like alcohol –it would be a lie, even, to say so– but he could definitely go without it most of the time. Buggy didn’t like to not be in full possession of his faculties. Losing his swimming abilities had been a blow, and he’d quickly understood that being drunk was a state he would now have to purposefully avoid. It wasn't something people usually understood.
