Summary
Gertrude hadn't quite known what to expect when she sent Michael into the Distortion. Perhaps, she suspected that he would become the Distortion, that the Distortion would become him.
In which case, she would only be half right.
The Distortion became Michael, yet Michael never became the Distortion.
Now, Michael Shelley is stuck, still working back at the archives, all too aware of his other self, causing fear and pain wherever it goes, a piece of himself that he may never get back.

The jacket is brown, and thick, with fleece lining and cuffs. It reaches down to somewhere between the waist and knees.
It is a winter coat, brand new when bought, the yearly indulgence of a working-class archival assistant a long time ago. Years have left its mark on the coat, but a lifetime of largely hanging untouched in a closet has left it in good shape. It looks almost wrong, now, but it’s still a brown winter coat at its core.
Michael needs its coat, today.

Albus Dumbledore is in the beginnings of his second war, and he doesn't know if he'll survive it. But he will pull every string and take every improbable path to make sure he succeeds. Anything to ensure the death of Voldemort.
Percy Jackson is caught in the middle of this new war, sent to eliminate the threat under Chiron's request. But for everyone who knows him, they also know that leaving him in the middle is the absolute worst idea ever.
He's in his final year of university, he's just proposed to Annabeth, they're still dealing with Tartarus - it's fair to say his plate is pretty damn full. He might have agreed to this, but that doesn't mean he's planning on wasting his time in Britain. He wants to get home ASAP, got it?
But between fighting a war, robbing banks and governments, planning his wedding, searching an entire country for splinters of a dark soul, trying to convince his cousin to get a magical education, and reviving a dead pantheon, Percy's not too sure he's going home anytime soon.

His tongue is dry and Jonah still feels paralyzed. There is a sudden pressure at his throat, a ribbon wrapped around his muscles that tugs upward, forcing his lips to move in a way that he knows is supernatural.
“May 29th, 1803,” he gasps and clutches at his neck to fight the sensation even as it goes slack and begins to fade.
Between death and a do-over, Jon would have tentatively chosen ‘do-over’. Of course, even when he and Martin get another chance, things become complicated and now they are faced with how to save this new reality while living with their former arch nemesis pre-avatarhood and whilst adjusting to the new time period. Chaos, as expected, ensues.

Despite his quirklessness, Izuku was determined to become a hero. He knew there were heroes out there that focused primarily on strategy and analysis so maybe one day he'd finally be able to make his creepy observations worth something, right? All that gets thrown into disarray when Izuku uncovers a story dating back more than two centuries that will land him in the midst of an otherworldly conflict he wants no part of and give him the power to become the hero he's always wanted to be.
Along the way Izuku will have to ask himself how did these powers come to be? Why was he chosen for something so sinister when he only ever wanted to help people? Can he still become a hero when each use of his new powers makes him less and less human?
(Or, a crossover between The Magnus Archives and BNHA that no one asked for. No real understanding of TMA necessary, Izuku will be right there learning alongside you.)

(Martin ends just as the world does, his body crumbling under the violent, crying Eye splitting the sky open. The knife in his hand has fallen to the ground, red blood mixing with black ink. The web carved on the blade isn’t visible anymore.
He has no hands, no arms, no mouth, no heart, but he knows he holds Jon against him until the end, whispering Love in his ear as they cry.)
(Sasha looks up from the Institute's lobby, Tim gasping as their eyes lock onto the first floor's balcony just outside Elias Bouchard's office. And Jon looks back at them.
His nose is bleeding and his eyes are feral when he walks down with a calm smile. Sasha doesn’t outright notice the scars littering his skin, scars that were absent only an hour ago, as she gapes back at Tim who seems one second away from fainting.)

Izuku was raised by a mother who believed he was a villain, because his father was a villain and he had his quirk. He was raised to believe it was something to fear, to hide and stuff down. It takes him years of positive reinforcement to escape that mindset but before he ever realizes he's not a villain he realizes he can't wait to be a hero, there are people to help, people who need saving. He never intended for it to get as serious as it did. When it comes down to it all Izuku wants is to be a hero and this? This is how he gets there.
*BEING REWRITTEN / REVISED* This story will keep roughly the same premise as the original but is going through a full rewrite as I started this story 4 years ago and as much as I love it I can't take it any further as is but I have a new vision for it.
