Summary
"There is a world where a child was born to a king- a clemar with grand dreams of a utopia and a queen- an elda- of the tainted tribe.
In that world, that child would be cursed, barely eight years old and spend much of his youth in a bed of briars. His desire, his will to be a legendary hero, came to life. A fiction turned real. The perfect archetype of an ideal king.
This is not that world."
Burdened by the responsibilities of his upcoming coronation following the death of his father, Prince Alexander Hythlodaeus de Eukronio stumbles across an eldan scribe with his face. The two switch places with one another to gain better insights into the other's life, a boon which becomes necessary when, one night, the prince suddenly goes missing.

MAJOR SPOILERS THROUGH THE END OF METAPHOR IN SUMMARY AND STORY
In the moments after Will tears his heart out to stop Louis's curse, as he's bleeding out, alone and dying, More gives him an offer: reject the world he's always known in favor of the world of his book, his perfect utopia. Live there, or return to reality, and die.
Will chooses to die.
Unfortunately for both of them, that perfect, utopian reality exists, in Maruki's Tokyo of 2017. And once the offer is made, it's not that easy to avoid being sucked into his world.

Summary
It’s More who mentions it, chatting idly as Will flips through one of Akademeia’s thick tomes with one hand and strokes a purring Plateau with the other. He’s had plenty to say about Brilehaven since Will arrived—delighted, half-recalled memories of youthful days by the seaside and friends he might have met there.
“There’s an Oceanan tradition, if I recall,” he says, not looking up from whatever he’s scratching away at in his notebook, “of putting a letter in a glass bottle and casting it out to sea, believing the tides will carry it to whoever the sender means to receive it.”

Summary
SPOILERS FOR LATE SEPTEMBER
When she is twelve years old, Rella Cygnus is given a terrible task--the assassination of the king. The curse she casts doesn't quite kill him, but it lingers and lasts and wears him down. In the aftermath, as the King is confined to bedrest and increasingly isolated from court, the Prince is left to navigate the politics of a court that sees him as an inconvenient hurdle to be overcome.
The Prince is six years old, with a hunger for books, a habit for getting into places he shouldn't, and an increasingly odd collection of friends.
It seems like a pretty fair fight.
