This year, B’s friend tells them that they got rejected by A because they said they already had a date. But when B asks A if they have a date, they say “No, I guess I’m going with you this year.”

    Or, Harry and Cedric go to the Yule Ball together because a promise they made the year prior (And Cedric will use this to his advantage).
