Summary
With Dipper in a coma and the Journal destroyed, Mabel decides that the only person who can help is the mysterious Author her brother had been searching for. Unfortunately, she's fresh out of clues. Unsure of what to do, Mabel turns to the last person she ever thought she'd ask for help: Gideon.
Gideon couldn't be more excited. Dipper and Stan are out of the way. Mabel is visiting him regularly and agreed to share everything she learns about the Journals and their Author. The nightmares even stopped! The voice which has guided him through the past 2 years of his life urges him to take full advantage of the situation. For once, however, he doesn't want to listen to it.

I'M JUST GOING TO WRECK"—Bill twisted Dipper's wrist brutally until it snapped, forcing a sob of horror from Dipper—"YOUR VESSEL TO THE POINT THAT IT'S UNUSABLE. THEN YOU'LL BE STUCK LIKE THIS FOR ALL ETERNITY!" The glee in Bill's voice had Dipper more terrified than anything else. But, through all the horror, Dipper found one thread of hope he might be able to follow.
"You don't want me dead, just out of the way?"
"WELL YEAH. I SAID I LIKE YOU, KID." Dipper thought he saw a way out but he didn't like it.
"Is there another way, then? That you could keep me out of the way?" Dipper held back another sob as he forced the words out.
(Who even cared? Someone was going to take him away eventually. It might as well be Bill.)
"Are you sure that's what you want, Pine Tree?"

"I-" his words turn into a jumbled mess and I feel my claws clench. It's more than a little frustrating the way Grace keeps using new vocabulary without offering a translation for it. It probably has to do with grammar structure, but we've barely established +λ++ words.
He can handle some grammatical sacrifices for the sake of ease, can't he? I definitely have.
Grace presses one of his dull claws to his carapace. "-sleep now. I come back in +∀ +λ++ seconds."
He takes another (clumsy) step backward and this time I do push my carapace into the barrier. He can't leave, the tunnel is too long for me to hear him whenever he's back on his spaceship. He's going to vanish and take that steady percussion beat within his chest with him. What if something happens to him while he's on his ship and he never returns? I need need need him.
Erid needs needs needs him.
"I observe."
Grace is so caught up with making himself look trustworthy that he forgets aliens might be able to lie just as well as he can.
OR
Rocky lies about Eridian culture. What's Grace gonna do? Call an alien a liar?
