Summary
Years prior, the Emperor of Li and the Grand Commandant came to an arrangement. By promising the La Princess to the Moon Prince, they hoped that they could protect their children and secure their futures.
Maomao is against this from the start, understanding that if she became the Moon Prince’s consort, a man whose real name and face is a mystery to her, then her life would go from mixing herbs to dodging assassination attempts. Meanwhile, Jinshi does his best to avoid her… even going as far as to hide his true identity as her betrothed; believing that she will be no different from countless others who sought only to use him. But after she arrives at the rear palace, he becomes fascinated with the indifferent, freckled girl, who may be the only one able to see past the masks he wears.
AU where Jinshi is forced to take Maomao as his consort—and future bride—against their will. To survive, the two begin to low-key rebel against a court of vipers in silk robes that’s trying to crown them and crush them in equal measure. Because here, royalty feels more like a prison.

Summary
Throughout the years, the moon prince would send her gifts she wouldn’t be able to procure on her own. Most were rare medicinal items from completed requests. Some, she received out of nowhere. And sometimes, he’d send her incense. Not too expensive though—she’d reproach him for that.
So when a wandering merchant told the moon prince of an incense called “To Be Closest to the One You Desire,” he immediately thought of her. The name sounded poetic. The merchant didn’t want money—only something of value to the moon prince. Skeptical, he obliged.
He sent the incense to the apothecary as a casual thank-you. And that’s when it started.
He began hearing her thoughts—the ones not meant to be said aloud.
Thoughts that left him reeling.
Confounded.
And maybe… wanting more.Or: the JinMao fic where Jinshi starts hearing Maomao’s internal monologues, and absolutely cannot handle it.

Voldemort slowly reached down and picked up the child.
He was still staring at him. He was still oddly silent. His eyes were still the colour of the Killing curse and brimming with power.
Yes, Voldemort decided, that was exactly what he’d do.
"You belong to me now" he whispered.
And with a crack like thunder, he turned on the spot, vanishing into the night.Or, the one where Harry Potter is raised by the Lestranges and it goes more or less how you would expect.
