And what a fun little kick to the gut that is, the realization that not only had he been played by all sides, but he's also being tossed aside like trash now that his use had run its course.
It’s not that Childe doesn’t get it. He’s a Harbinger. He knows first-hand what it means to do his duty, to put the mission first and his personal feelings far, far away, preferably locked up in a box, where it wouldn’t interfere with his job. He knows what it’s like working with vipers, to scheme and plot and lie in wait for the opportune moment to stab his opponent in the back.
But this time, this time Childe can’t help but feel a little (a lot) gutted.

As Namjoon stood slightly removed from the scene, bemusedly watching the six-year-olds swarm around his cooler (which he had borrowed from his mom), he didn’t even notice that someone had sidled up next to him until he heard the tiny, but undoubtedly exasperated, huff.
He followed the sound, turning his head to the right. A guy was standing there, arms crossed, lips pursed. He let out another huff, louder this time, but only slightly.
Namjoon refused to acknowledge him. What the fuck was this guy’s deal? Was he really that bitter that his six-year-old just lost a soccer game for six-year-olds?
One more huff from the guy.
He was beginning to think this guy’s lips were just perpetually pursed and would simply never, ever unpurse themselves, when he, the guy, finally unpursed his lips to speak.
“I just think it’s pretty irresponsible to bring Gatorade to a soccer game for first graders,” he said, huffily, “No offense.”

Sober Jihoon knew this was a stupid feat. Joshua was an Alpha, for fuck's sake: no way is it ever going to end the way that Jihoon wants and sober Jihoon knew this, goddammit. But sober Jihoon was packing his bags because tipsy Jihoon just called drunk Jihoon to the party by letting Jihoon drinking his Whiskey Sour in three gulps. He caught Joshua looking at him with eyes a little blown, and Jeonghan started chortling, curling into Seungcheol who covered his mouth with his hand. Junhui was the only one who cheered, and that’s because he was probably equally as drunk.
“Alright then,” Jeonghan said. “I guess it's that kind of night, huh?”
“Do you want to dance?” Drunk Jihoon didn’t give a fuck if this was a stupid feat. Joshua was the worst Alpha Jihoon had ever seen and Jihoon wanted to fuck him.

The surprising thing now was that while the current explanation of “You looked kind of tired there. My treat” could be taken as Wonwoo merely being observative and attentive, Junhui knew better. Because right there, through his magical armor and protective bubble, a little yarn-like connection had been established, too thin to be based on pure-blooded witchcraft and yet too sturdy to be born from Jun’s crush alone. Not to mention he was psychic, not a manipulator. He was not able to build a connection like this on the subconscious, it took time, effort, and usually a lot of magical mirroring, neither of which he had done. Even if he had, it didn’t explain the sudden free drink, which only sent him into circles. Because attentive Wonwoo didn’t explain the bond, and the bond didn’t explain the attentiveness, and at the same time he couldn’t explain the bond because - for a fact - the waiter was no witch, there was no magical vibe, no bewitched aura, none that would give any of them away.
