“People were killed,” Yuji said and gestured to the swaying ceiling above them. “If anyone else was going to die, it would have been while we were stuck waiting for you to get here. What are you even inspecting for?”

Or, in a world where Itadori Wasuke never died, Yuji has been working as a firefighter, blissfully unaware of curses. He takes care of his grandfather, helps out around the neighborhood, and saves cats from trees in a quiet corner of Sendai.
Megumi, on the other hand, is tired of the jujutsu world. When he comes across a young man too good to be true, he falls for him. And Megumi is perfectly happy keeping Yuji in the dark about jujutsu to preserve their small slice of normalcy.
However, Kenjaku never planned on letting Sukuna's Vessel live in peace forever. Soon enough, his plans would come together, and no meddling sorcerers were going to stand between him and his tools.

Suddenly, a wisp of light.
It is familiar, comforting, inviting. It urges him, frantic yet gentle as it pushes him towards the surface.
And then he sees him.
Bright blue eyes blink at him like a lighthouse in the night, cutting through the darkness and fog, guiding him back home.“How long are you gonna let yourself be used like this, Suguru?”
Those words feel like a punch to the gut. He starts thrashing and struggling against the black quicksand trapping him.
It hurts. It hurts so much. Still he keeps pushing. Because Satoru needs him.Finally, he is free.
He looks up and finds himself face to face with Satoru, who is still kneeling with his hands tied behind his back by the Prison Realm and is looking straight back at him.
All the defiance and aggression from earlier is gone from his eyes, replaced instead by a familiar softness.
Satoru smiles, weak and tired, but sincere nonetheless.“Welcome back, Suguru.”

"Why can't Gojo take her?" Megumi diverts, pointing at the other man. "He's known for picking up strays."
"Really, it's no trouble," Yuuji says sweetly. "We're happy to have her."
The last part is very much directed at Megumi, who is very much not happy to have her.
Even if he wanted to — which he doesn't — it wouldn't be an option logistically. Their house is the furthest thing from child proofed. They don't have a guest room set up. They don't have clothes for her. They don't even have an extra tooth brush. They simply cannot responsibly house a child.
But more damning than any logic — than any of his astute understanding of responsibility — is the fact that Megumi is stupid and hopelessly in love with his husband and probably indulges him more than he should. So when Yuuji makes his eyes go wide and pouts his lip just a little bit like he is right now, Megumi has been known to make incredibly dumb choices. Like, truly, monumentally stupid stuff. He might even —
