“I’ll get to it in a minute.” Aziraphale looked practically disheveled, and beautiful, and despite everything that happened, he looked perfectly, utterly, calm. “I was hoping to talk about us.”
The cork gave, and Crowley hit himself in the face.
Crowley’s venom is a truth serum, one he has used on himself for centuries, dosing himself in private to admit to his own carefully buried feelings— but accidents happen, and Crowley bites himself the night after the Apocalypse.

Free Will has just been invented, and in response, She creates soulmates that find each other through shared dreams. Aziraphale, the first Angel to exploit a loophole, decides he'll just never sleep. Crowley, the first Demon with anxiety, thinks that he wasn't assigned a soulmate as punishment for the Original Sin.
There's a high chance that they are not meant for each other; but it's easier to hope if they just never know for sure.

Guilt tastes sour and selfish, especially when he finally had everything he’d ever wanted sitting in a cottage in South Downs, and Crowley comes to terms with the fact that this probably was never just about sex after all.
In short: Crowley is used to getting fucked by a personification of his self-esteem issues and finds that he has a hard time asking for what he really wants.
And what he wants is to be in the lap of the Divine.
