Summary
Kris didn’t exactly know what to do at this point. Susie asked them to take Noelle to the festival in her stead but… Noelle didn’t know that. And they don’t really know how to bring that up without it being weird.
Without it being forced.
They could just… not bring it up. The two of them would go their separate ways, and Kris could hang out in Castle Town until it was time to carry out more of the plan. They were fully content to just walk away right now.
“I guess it will just be the two of us, then.” Noelle said.
Or not.
(In which Susie stands up Noelle, leaving Kris to fill in her shoes.)

Summary
“S'not your fault that—”
“—I hurt you,” Susie finished. She chewed on the concept, the edges of her voice frantic, her throat thick. “Because you deserved it.”
“Yes.” Kris pressed her hands against their chest. They smiled in a way that failed to be reassuring. Each desperate breath shuddering through their lungs confirmed everything Susie didn't want to know. “S’fine. It’s okay.”
Kris burned like a charred pan straight out of the oven, or an oil fire stoked by liquor. Susie reeled away. “You—you were trying to set me up,” Susie accused, trying to edge words around the chasm opening in her gut. “You were trying to get me to hit you.”
Kris wants Susie to hurt them. They need her to hurt them. Susie isn't as on board with the idea as they are.

Susie at least relaxed as she took note of the familiar presence, the tension never leaving her shoulders, though. She was greatly confused as to why Kris was by the lake at this hour.
“Kris, shit. Umm. Out for some fresh air?” she managed lamely.
Kris’ eyes glazed over almost instantly as they stared off into the far distance.

Summary
Kris can't help but go out at night. The quiet out there seems different than the quiet in their room- better, more pure, maybe. Maybe because their house hasn't felt the same since their mother brought that skeleton home- and then kept having him over. They tried staying at the Flower King on the weekends, but that just upset their mother and had them sleeping in the most depressing building in town. So... they walk.
And as they walk, they realize loneliness doesn't seem to suit them as much as it used to. But in times like these, company isn't something they know how to deal with.

Summary
By now, Asriel is thoroughly convinced this is all one big elaborate prank from Kris that they've gotten everyone in Hometown to collaborate on.

Sure, Asriel totally believes that. And somehow, despite this woman apparently being the embodiment of everything good and hopeful about this world, Kris is apparently too ashamed to tell him anything about her.
Sure. Asriel totally believes that.
Kris is far too secretive about their girlfriend, and Asriel, all too curious, decides to do his own research. Who is this mythical 'girlfriend', and why does Mom like her so much? Is Kris just pranking him?
He gets into a lot of misunderstandings along the way.

Summary
It wasn’t fear. Kris had never been afraid of storms, or rain; in fact, they’d always been a pretty quiet kid, all things considered. It wasn’t the rain or thunder that rolled a haze over their mind, a darkness settling coldly at the edges, sharp and unwelcome. No, it was the feelings that came with the storms; the reminders, the memories, the echoes of pain that weighed down their shoulders and landed like bruises upon their mind.
They couldn’t even remember, and that was the worst part. It was just a haze of emotions, familiar yet so distant. Something that happened to them, but didn’t; something they couldn’t grasp, weren’t able to conceptualize. It happened, but it wasn’t there, but they felt it.
